It is said, "Great," and so on. The assembly of great Bodhisattvas is the assembly of Maitreya and so on. The vidyā goddesses are the eyes and so on, adorned with them, because they abide in the very nature of becoming retinues. The king of wrathful ones is Yamāntaka and so on, and it should be known that there are also the mudrās of the vows of those wrathful ones. The male servant is the wrathful one who cannot be overcome by others and so on. The female servant is the mudrā of their vow. The messenger is the wrathful one such as Hayagrīva. The female messenger is the mudrā of their vow. The attendant is the wrathful one such as Amṛtakundalin. The female attendant is the mudrā of their vow. "Surrounding" means having made a maṇḍala. "Looking in front" means that everything is turned towards this presence, because it abides manifestly facing it. This shows the perfect retinue that transcends the world. The samādhi of bliss is the samādhi of great bliss, having made it its own nature, that is, whoever has made the essence of great bliss their own nature is called that. That alone is the object of that wisdom, that is, obtaining the wisdom of Samantabhadra in all aspects. That is never separated, that is, always truly possessed. Great compassion is without object. Pleasing beings is accomplishing the intention of benefiting them through loving conduct. Moreover, this is the pleasing of great compassion, hence it is said thus. Therefore, this is called diligently striving to liberate beings, that is, for the sake of liberating beings who are immersed in manifest clinging to self and so on, teaching the non-self of phenomena and so on, whoever possesses the distinction of being diligent and extremely striving is called that. Gods and nāgas and so on show the perfect retinue of the world, just as the maṇḍala of the eight classes of gods and so on, one should contemplate with one's own essence outside the maṇḍala, in one's own direction, this is the oral instruction. "Abiding" means by means of magical powers and so on.

He remained captivating the minds of those to be tamed. Then, it refers to the occasion. "Vajrapani," and so forth, refers to gazing upon Vajrasattva and then smiling. The reason for gazing upon him is that Vajrapani is the eldest son. Regarding the place of the teacher and the student, since it is the same sequence of inquiry, the smiling here is with intention, and the gazing is to understand its nature. "Therefore," refers to the cause by which the Bhagavan was pleased and gazed upon, knowing that it had become a wondrous dharma, the Bhagavan became wondrous, meaning it became marvelous. For that reason, "please speak," means in what way does he show smiling that benefits and accords with sentient beings, in the same way, please Bhagavan speak that intention. "By proclaiming the sound of the great lion's roar," means that the very sound of the great lion proclaims the sound and the manner of uttering speech, that is called such, in between such fearless and unobstructed speech. "Then," and so forth, means that immediately after that, the Bhagavan spoke thus, connecting with the words that closely indicate. The great king of tantras is extraordinary, connecting with that which is to be taught. Great wisdom is the wisdom of omniscience. "Manifesting in various ways" means playing in various ways, by the power of the strength of previous aspirations, wherever mandalas are emanated, etc., that is called such. That is also referred to here as the net of illusion. All the tantras are the root tantras such as the Compendium of the Noble One. The later tantras are the tantras such as the Great Compendium of Vows. Among those, this king of tantras is later, so it is called such. "Easy means" means that from this, by means of wisdom and easy means, it shows the very swift attainment of the meaning manifestly desired.
