The Great Explanation of the King of Tantras, the Net of Great Illusion, by Kunga Nyingpo. The Great Explanation of the King of Tantras, the Net of Great Illusion. Kunga Nyingpo. In Sanskrit: Māyājāla Mahātantrarāja Ṭīkākhya. In Tibetan: The Great Explanation of the King of Tantras, the Net of Great Illusion. Homage to the Bhagavan, Lord of Speech! The five complete Buddhas, The eight well-trained reasoners, The four mother goddesses, and The ten powerful wrathful deities, The emptiness that is not exhausted by four times emptiness, I pay homage to all Bodhicitta beings. I will clearly explain the hidden essence of the excellent tantra. What is the subject matter of "Thus I have heard," and so on? What is the connection? What is the need? What is the need of the need? If one asks thus, it should be explained. The subject matter is: the Bhagavan, the Net of Illusion, that is, the Vajra Tathagata Vairochana who manifests in the nature of all things. The tantra that reveals it is also called that, like the biographies of those who are born. These are the nature of the expresser and the expressed, or the connection is that which possesses the nature of means and that which arises from means. The need is to generate desire by first taking refuge in the Three Jewels, etc., and then allowing entry into the mandala, etc. The need of the need is that those who have perfectly generated desire obtain the wisdom of Samantabhadra of all kinds through the sequence of entering the mandala, etc. In this tantra, the lord of the tantra is the glorious Vairochana, and the beginning of the explanation of his qualities is from the words "Bhagavan," etc., and the ultimate explanation of the three samadhis and the samadhi of the tantra. From that beginning, until the end of the words "Thus spoke the Bhagavan," is the tantra. The one who compiled it is the Vajradhara, the lord of the ten bhumis, who dwells in the palace of Willow City, Samantabhadra, etc., who dwells in his own mandala.

To the assembly of Bodhisattvas of the sacred ground, it was said, "Thus have I heard," and so on. Among them, "Thus have I heard" means that one manifestly grasps through the knowledge of hearing, and because one ascertains the meaning of the tantra, it is said that the meaning of the tantra is inverted, this is "Thus have I heard." "I" means that one acknowledges oneself, and it is heard manifestly. "Heard" means that one has not comprehended it oneself. When asked when, from where, where, what kind of retinue, and what was heard, in order to answer appropriately, it is said, "At one time," which means at one instance of time, that is, at one time this was heard, and at other times, others were heard. This shows that one has heard many things and is a collector. Or, "at one time" means in one instant. Because one has obtained power over the inconceivable gate of liberation, whatever one has to hear, one hears all of it in one instant, which is unspeakable. This shows that one is a person of authority. "Bhagavan" means that one has conquered the four maras or possesses power, etc., therefore, Bhagavan dwells in the place of Vairochana, and it can be connected in this way. This is explaining that when Bhagavan dwells in the palace of the pure abode, surrounded by retinues such as great Bodhisattvas, at that time, together with those retinues, in the same place, I heard this tantra from Bhagavan at one time. "Above the pure abode," etc., means that because one has realized the completely pure Prajnaparamita, the Buddha Bhagavan is pure, and because that is their dwelling place, it is a place. Therefore, all places are superior to it, so it is above, that is, the most important. That is also the stupa of the nature of the four jewels, which is manifested by the Vajradhatu Ishvari who is completely immersed in her own samaya, which necessarily arises from the letter Bhrum (Tibetan: བྷྲཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: भ्रूं, Sanskrit Romanization: bhrūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: none). Among them, having four-cornered pavilions, etc., is its characteristic.
