Regarding the mudras of view, speech, and mind, sometimes all four are necessary. Sometimes three are needed. Sometimes only the two mudras of mind and view are needed. Sometimes any one will do, as it is said, "After conquering the three realms, each mudra should be combined with the four mudras and the essence." "Then" means "also." "Vajra Secret" refers to the mandala of Vajra Secret. Its mudras are the Heroic Vajra Mother and so on. Its wisdom is the wisdom of the union of those. "To learn" means "to be taught." "Having bound the Heroic Vajra" means binding. Where to bind? In the heart. With what? With myself. Whose? My own. The Vajra View has already been explained. Having looked with it, to introduce it into the vessel, from one or two or many up to all beings. "Having looked with the burning gaze," means that the gaze to be introduced is drawn there with the burning gaze. "Will become capable of controlling all," means that one will be able to control all beings. "Having looked well with the wrathful gaze," means that all beings will thereby submit, meaning that they will lose consciousness. Contemplate the Karma Vajra in one's own heart, and having looked with the loving gaze, then he will protect all. Thus, with those unions, one may do the actions as spoken of in the scriptures separately, or one may combine them and introduce them. Then means also. "Vajra Secret" refers to the secret mandala. "To learn to bind the Great Mudra," here, the Samaya Mudra itself is called the Great Mudra, because this is the mandala of mudras, therefore these themselves are the main ones here. The Samaya Mudra of these will appear below, as it is said, "Those Vajra Secrets." "Born from the Vajra Anjali," and so on, mentioning the Vajra Anjali is to distinguish it from the Vajra Binding.

那托。生起，名为出生。秘密也是，伟大也是，因此是秘密大。其他外道不能知晓，因此是秘密。威力大，因此是伟大。完全分开，即是解说，因此名为完全解说。大手印，名为在此是其主要之故。简略，名为已作简略。彼等以之束缚，说。名为完全分开而解说。从金刚合掌中生起。如是说，因此作金刚合掌。两拇指是交叉作。如是说，即是左拇指以右（拇指）按压，右食指的根部以左拇指按压。食指尖端弯曲，即是两食指的尖端，第三节弯曲的那个，即是食指的尖端弯曲。食指弯曲的那个，也应与中指平齐的第三节相合。中指平齐的第三节与食指的尖端相接，是这个意思。金刚界的主尊是毗卢遮那佛的处所。彼即，名为金刚合掌。中指作金刚，即是两中指相并之意。不动佛的处所和金刚萨埵母的处所。两中指作宝，如是说，即是从那个金刚合掌中，两中指作成珍宝之状，是金刚宝母的处所和宝生佛的处所。从那个金刚合掌中，中指和无名指及小指作莲花未开之状，名为莲花，是无量光佛的处所和金刚法母的处所。金刚合掌的两手掌心相合，拇指和小指相并，剩余六指不相离，互相观视，是无有魔障成就的处所和金刚作业母的处所。从金刚合掌中，两食指相合，是金刚萨埵的处所。从金刚合掌中，两食指作成铁钩之状，是金刚王的处所。那个以两拇指隐藏。如是说，那个，即是两食指。

Nato. 'Byung ba' means 'born'. It is also secret and great, therefore it is the Great Secret. Because other non-Buddhists do not know it, it is secret. Because it is powerful, it is great. 'Raptu chye wa' means 'explained', therefore it is called 'Raptu shé'. 'Chag gya chen po' is called this because it is the main thing here. 'Dordüpa' means 'made brief'. 'They bind with these, it is said' means 'explained completely'. 'Arising from the vajra palms' is said, therefore make the vajra palms. The two thumbs are crossed. That is, the left thumb is pressed by the right, and the root of the right index finger is pressed by the left thumb. 'The tips of the index fingers are bent' means the tips of the two index fingers, the third joint that is bent is the bending of the tips of the index fingers. That bending of the index finger should also be joined to the third joint of the middle finger that is level. The meaning is that the third joint of the middle finger that is level should be joined to the tip of the index finger. The lord of the vajra sphere is the place of Vairochana. 'That itself' means the vajra palms. 'The middle fingers should be made into vajras' means that the two middle fingers should be joined together. The place of Akshobhya and the place of Vajrasattva Mother. 'The two middle fingers should be made into jewels' means that from those vajra palms, the two middle fingers are made into the form of jewels, which is the place of Vajraratna Mother and the place of Ratnasambhava. From those vajra palms, the middle finger and ring finger and little finger are made into the form of an unopened lotus, which is called Padma, which is the place of Amitabha and the place of Vajradharma Mother. The two palms of the vajra palms are joined together, and the thumb and little finger are joined together, and the remaining six fingers are not separated, but look at each other, which is the place of accomplishment without obstacles and the place of Vajrakarma Mother. From the vajra palms, the two index fingers are joined together, which is the place of Vajrasattva. From the vajra palms, the two index fingers are made into the form of iron hooks, which is the place of Vajraraja. That is hidden by the two thumbs. It is said, 'that itself' means the two index fingers.
