Thus, after the Rabjung, the last of the Mahayana is the Sutra School. Some are explaining the Sutra School. The middle ones, the Mind-Only School, with and without aspects, because they have not separated from the experience of the mind, some see the state of the mind as one taste. The best, the Madhyamaka School, says that all dharmas are like illusions and non-dual, not nominal, and that all dharmas are impermanent, which is the causal vehicle. Some people make this Great Vehicle into an illusion. Regarding this, through the scriptures and treatises, and through valid cognition, the knowable is determined. Because one enters the treatises for many kalpas, this is a treatise on the valid cognition of treatises. Regarding this, the Vajrayana, practicing the generation stage of Hevajra or Heruka, etc., also practices all mandalas and wheels. Also, relying on the fourth empowerment, the complete stage of the four drops of the fourth wheel is explained, so some people enter into explaining the meaning of the fourth. Also, because of seeing the calm abiding of emptiness, some seem to be speculating on the realm of space. Some look at various things and emptiness as inseparable. Others look at emptiness. Some say that appearance is not matter and knowledge is not awareness, so there is no connection between the mandala of the deities and knowledge. Most enter into inconsistent aspects. Why is that? Because one recognizes the three co-emergent aspects of all dharmas, nothing else can liberate. Who else can separate from the co-emergent? Also, because one abides in one aspect of calm abiding, one does not see liberation. What nirvana is practiced? This is calm abiding. This is insight. This is equipoise. This is post-attainment. Because of arrogance, one cannot touch the ultimate truth. None of those can touch the ultimate truth. The ultimate truth cannot be touched by the mind. Because it is beyond words, it cannot be named. That is not the object of knowledge, so the other cannot be accomplished. The other is touched by the mind, and calm abiding, etc., are believed by the mind. Whatever one believes in, because of belief, it is not true. One cannot attain the Buddha's intention. Can a meditator attain liberation? If one realizes the correct view, the offering of...

Neither darkness nor light, neither emptiness nor non-thought, why need lamps, why need offerings? If one can realize the true nature as it is, the outer mantra is the wrathful mantra, the inner mantra is holding the mind on the flow of the winds, the secret mantra does not need to guard the mind, why practice it? Why rely on secret mantras? Like outsiders relying on the steps of the lower stream, or entering the forest to practice asceticism, there is no need to descend the bodhicitta from the order of the inner chakras, no need to use the order of the chakras as steps, reversing the bodhicitta upwards, walking, for this there is no need for unspeakable asceticism, why need the steps of the lower stream, walking and asceticism? Like outsiders bathing, or like mantra practitioners contemplating impurity as purity, one cannot attain liberation, can one attain liberation by entering the water? Method, appearance, memory, bliss, clarity, and emptiness separated from these, merely abiding in quiescence is not ultimate, what is the use of abiding in emptiness separated from compassion? Thus one cannot see the uncommon path of Mahamudra, thus one cannot attain the supreme path. Or, even if there are many skillful means, if one can realize Prajnaparamita or the Perfection of Wisdom, meditation is the near shore. Even if one only practices compassion, meditation is mental fabrication, one cannot escape the three realms, abiding in samsara, one cannot attain liberation. The views of other schools have been explained above. Now I will clearly explain the views of our own school, from view etc. to fruition, gathering with hope and fear, summarizing the root metaphors with thirty-five metaphors. The thirty-five metaphors are: not keeping the meaning of the heart essence in mind, the unchanging view is the metaphor of something in the palm of the hand; the conduct of not distinguishing between right and wrong is the metaphor of putting water in water; the meditation that transcends attachment and explains one's own school is the metaphor of embracing the illusory net; the fruit that cannot be expressed is the metaphor of the sky; the nature of mind is the metaphor of the wish-fulfilling jewel; its qualities, the four combinations, are the metaphor of the sky; if one can realize continuous meditation, it is the metaphor of holding water in cupped hands; and so on.
