Now, those who dwell in the place of conceptualization do not see the very nature of reality abiding in itself, and all of that is just ignorance. Therefore, all those who are skilled in words and terms do not realize that the Dharmakaya Buddha exists in the body of self-nature, which expounds all the distinctions of the teachings of the doctrine. Now, it will be shown by way of the example of leisure and happiness: Elephants are exhausted by labor, which is the fatigue caused by going back and forth. Having realized this, what need is there for Dharma? The meaning of this is that in the Lumba Garden, a householder named Agshodana had a very mad elephant named Patrota. Taming them was for the sake of being virtuous in work and action. However, wanting to pacify them did not turn out that way. They become very miserable when coming and going, staying, eating grass, drinking water, and foraging. The keepers could not suppress them with the power of food, and they themselves became very tired and tormented by the suffering of being separated from food. Then, a man named Vatsa's son Gayamgo said: "Alas, it would be good if these strong elephants were sold. Free from work and labor. Not harmed by the factors that cause death. Wanting to obtain virtue and peace, but unable to tame them. If it cannot be done that way, at the root of the Kusha grass, do not have hope, let them live freely." So, he sold the elephant to the market. When it became tame and exhausted, it neither went nor came, nor did it become tired and weary. It cut off the suffering of being separated from food and naturally became leisurely and full of happiness. Then it said: "Alas, alas, I am so happy. The elephants who want happiness become miserable. By letting go of the elephant, one can have supreme leisure. If everyone puts down their work, they can become happy." A householder named Magadana heard these words, and thinking to himself, he heard that my mind is like a mad elephant. Taming them did not bring virtue, and they could not be tamed. I cannot find a place to sell them, where should I put them? So he sat down relaxed, and his mind no longer wandered.
