This is the meaning (of the above scriptures). In order to explain how to accomplish that essence in a way that the mind is naturally at ease, (the scripture says:) If the mind is bound, it will be bound by samsara; if it is not bound, it will be liberated and attain freedom. Fools are bound by the lack of instruction, while the wise gurus quickly liberate themselves. The meaning of this passage is that if the yogi's mind is bound, it will be bound by samsara; if it is released freely without binding the mind, it will be naturally liberated and attain the liberation of becoming an omniscient Buddha. A foolish person who lacks the precious instructions of the guru will bind his mind; and the way to obtain happiness from those (bonds) is to quickly liberate oneself by freely indulging one's wisdom like a mad elephant through the nectar of the words of the wise gurus. Now, I will explain how to rest in a vast state of mind: (The scripture says:) The mind should be viewed as like the sky, the body is the same as it, so one should not be attached. All dharmas are equal to the mind itself, the mind is inconceivable, and by contemplating it, one will attain the unsurpassed fruit. The meaning of this passage is that the yogi should view the essence of the mind as being like the sky, because it is unknowable, equal, unspeakable, and because it is nothing, therefore it is the same as the sky. Therefore, the essence of the body is inseparable from Suchness, so one should not be attached to it. Therefore, one should rest the body and mind in a vast state of mind without any doubts. Why is that? Because all the dharmas of appearance and sound are equal to the essence of the mind. The mind is the Dharmakaya, therefore it is an inconceivable essence, and if one contemplates it as a state of being nothing at all, one will attain the unsurpassed fruit. Now, I will explain that everything is known as mind: (The scripture says:) Clouds appear in the sky and are dispersed by the wind; the Suchness of the mind should be realized, and it is dissipated by contemplation. The one with essence said, when will one be capable, the impermanent movement will be quickly abandoned. The meaning of this passage is that just as clouds suddenly appear in the naturally pure sky and then dissipate by the movement of the wind, the essence of the mind is pure and undefiled, but suddenly many internal and external discriminations arise. Through the guru's instructions, realize the unborn mind.
