is bliss. Superior to that, the state of supreme joy, peace, is considered to be the state of one-pointedness of mind, which is the second state. The nature of the five elements, such as earth, which are the essence of the five wisdoms like a mirror, is a precious gem about the size of a mustard seed, with five colors. By the method of exhaling, it is taken out from one's own heart and contemplated at the tip of a lotus. This is said to be life and effort. As in the previously explained sequence, holding especially in one's own heart until the mind-mantra transforms into a bindu and the five signs arise, is the nature of holding, the fourth. The five signs are like a mirage, like smoke, like a firefly, like a butter lamp, and the fifth is said to be like the midday sun in a cloudless sky, always appearing everywhere. Through these signs, one should fully know that one's mind has become stable in the nature of the sacred mantra bindu. Then, that bodhichitta is fully spread from one's own heart into the space of the consort's sky through the vajra path. By this, one should contemplate that the entire space of the sky is filled like a vase with vajra water, which is called recollection, the fifth limb. When recollection is perfected, all sentient beings dwelling in the vajra sky will have the appearance of having become Samantabhadra Buddhas, Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas, through the empowerment of bodhichitta, by the door of universal touch. Then, contemplating that each atom of bodhichitta, which is the nature of being without sentient beings, is the form of all the deities such as the Tathagatas who are in union with one's own wisdom consort, and gathering them, the deity's form, which is made of their atoms and abides in union, and whose nature is great bliss, abides in the center of the vajra mandala, is called samadhi, the sixth limb. These six limbs show the supreme yoga that is fully accomplished through the nectar of wisdom. From the eighteenth chapter: The supreme nectar of wisdom itself, yoga.

It should be done with diligence. With the six limbs of attainment, one should cultivate supreme Bodhi. If cultivated by others, it will not become the supreme Siddhi. Separate gathering and meditation, as well as life force retention, mindfulness and samadhi, are called the six limbs of union. Of the ten faculties, in all their respective domains, it is said to be separate gathering because of separately gathering desires. The five desires are briefly gathered, and by uniting them with the five Buddhas, constancy is said to be meditation. That meditation then becomes fivefold: investigation and analysis, joy and bliss, likewise the very nature of happiness, and the one-pointedness of mind; in these five, meditation is gathered. The arising of the three secrets is investigation; its abundance is analysis. The third is similar to joy; the fourth is gathered by bliss. The arising and cessation of knowledge and the knowable, one should know one's own mind as the fifth. The substance of all Buddhas, abiding completely in all of space. The breath is the nature of the five wisdoms, the essence of the five elements. Having extracted it in the form of a sphere, contemplate it thoroughly at the tip of the nose. In the five precious colors, it is said to be life and effort. Having contemplated one's own mantra in the heart, one places the life force as a drop. The rejection of self-empowerment is said to be the apprehended and the apprehender. The mind becomes the vajra of cessation; attachment to signs will arise. Those signs are of five kinds, as spoken by Bodhi Vajra. Like a mirage is the first, like smoke is the second. Like a sky appearance is the third, like a burning lamp is the fourth. Like a cloudless sky, it is the fifth that always appears. From the path of the steadfastly changing vajra, one should expand into the realm of space. Whatever one contemplates in mindfulness, one should expand in similarity to that. It is said to be mindfulness, arising from that which appears separately. By equally engaging skillful means and wisdom, all faculties are gathered together, having gathered them in the form of a sphere, one cultivates the form in the center. That which perfects wisdom with the mind is called samadhi. Thus it is said. This, called the limb of the completion stage just spoken of.
