Thus it is said. For a while, the first consciousness is the self-awareness that is realized by the direct perception of yoga, which is empty of the nature of being separated from the aspects of the grasped and the grasper. Although it is the nature of the Dharmakaya, consciousness is like the sky due to the habitual impregnation of beginningless ignorance, and although it is the same as the sky, it is free from the characteristics of birth, old age, and death. However, it has become the nature of the grasped and the grasper, and has become the coarse nature itself. Due to the power of the darkness of ignorance, one forgets one's own nature and relies on the clinging to self and the clinging to what belongs to self. Thus, the nature of the eight consciousnesses arises. That is, due to the power of the entering consciousness, the afflicted mental consciousness, and the Alaya consciousness, it arises depending on the three distinctions, and thus revolves in samsara. So, what kind of distinctions are there? Night is the entering consciousness, day is the afflicted mental consciousness, and the intermediate is the Alaya consciousness. Only to it are names such as appearance established in a pure way. This mind, in three ways, the Bhagavan has explained and taught in those and those sutras and tantra kings. This prevents it from being merely one's own desire. The establishment of that mind, that is, the cause of establishing birth, is to be explained. The winds, with the form of emptiness, are mixed with consciousness and truth, arise from the gate of the senses, and fixate on objects. Here, driven by the faults of birth and karmic imprints, the Gandharva (গন্ধ, gandha, smell) sentient being with all senses, abiding in the intermediate state of existence, is driven by the imprints of desire and hatred, and at that time, at the time of the union of the male and female organs, enters the womb. Immersed in their semen and blood, it gradually becomes a jelly-like substance, a clot, and the extension of limbs, and substances such as bones, skin, and hair, in the order of nine and ten months, transform into the substance of living beings, and arise from the mother's womb, seeing, hearing, smelling, eating, and touching things.
