For the purpose of analysis and research, (it is said in the scripture:) "Those who are well-established in the generation stage and desire the completion stage, this method is taught by the complete Buddha, like the steps of a ladder." Thus it is proclaimed. Briefly speaking, the practitioner first generates the deity through the sequence of the three samadhis, such as the first yoga, or through the sequence of the four vajras. Through a hundredfold classification, one enters the state of complete bodily quiescence. Afterwards, having attained extraordinary accomplishment, one can effortlessly and clearly see the deity's body, and whatever one sees is only the form of the deity. These are well-established in the generation stage, which is the meaning of having reached the other shore of the generation stage. Because in order to be able to be well-established in the generation stage, the condition of the past tense is combined. Therefore, its meaning is: For those who have completely accomplished the generation stage, they are the well-established ones. If such yogis desire the completion stage, that is, the sequence of the nature of non-elaboration and non-discrimination, and want to attain it, then the method for these yogis is as follows: the meditation sequence spoken by the complete Buddha, that is, the Tathagatas, is the teaching. Like the steps of a ladder, it is like a path to climb. Just as a person climbing from the path of the steps will gradually reach the top of high places such as palaces, similarly, by practicing the sequence of vajra recitation and so on, gradually purifying speech and so on, through the sequence, the ever-joyful nature of the great Vajradhara's position of the path of no more learning, the nature of the Dharmakaya, will be attained. The mention of the complete Buddha is to show that this is a reliable scriptural authority, that is, the literal meaning. Now, in order to explain what is the collection of winds on which the sequence of vajra recitation depends, (it is said in the scripture:) "The life force of sentient beings, called wind, performs all actions, it is the mount of consciousness, the nature of five is also ten." The meaning of what is said is: the life wind located in the heart, only through the mouth and nose, etc.

Life pervades all realms of the world, from the state arising from external conditions, starting with the tiny insects, up to the peak of existence. What is it like? It is the life of sentient beings, that is, the life of the four types of sentient beings, just like the faculty of life. Is this one of the great elements? Or is it the nature of all of them? It is said to be wind, and wind is the nature of the great elements, having the characteristics and functions of going, coming, extending, and contracting. If that is the case, then the external wind is also the same, because it is also the same as it, why not grasp it? In order to eliminate such doubts, it is said that "consciousness is the vehicle," meaning that consciousness has the nature of seeing meaning, and there are eight types, namely, Alaya consciousness, afflicted mental consciousness, and the six entering consciousnesses. Their vehicle is the driver, just like a horse and a rider. Like this, apart from the eight consciousnesses residing in the body of the nature of the five great elements, no other action can be observed, so it is said: In that, the consciousness that sees meaning, its difference arises from the mind. It is said in the Abhidharma: Consciousness is the nature of pride and mind. Therefore, that consciousness, which is merely of the nature of discrimination, does not have the ability to grasp objects until it is driven by the wind element, just as a paralyzed person cannot go to other places without a horse. Therefore, this consciousness is driven by the wind to grasp objects. If consciousness is driven by the wind to grasp objects, and it is not its own nature, then how is it not contradictory to the sutras? In the Sutra Requested by Good Guardian, the Blessed One said: Good Guardian, just as the wheel turns by the power of the method of doing, so too, the wheel of the body moves by the power of being in accordance with karma. This realm of consciousness has various supports and functions. This realm of consciousness itself is the cause of producing the body, therefore it is the agent.
