First: The Order of Vajra Recitation. First: The Order of Vajra Recitation. General Explanation. This Completion Stage is summarized in five meanings by the venerable Nāgārjuna. Therefore, for this purpose, one first pays homage to the desired deity. Thus, the practice of preceding with homage to the desired deity is the conduct of the holy ones. Such homage is of three kinds: that which accords with reason, that which is in accordance, and that which combines both. That which accords with reason is, for example, paying homage to the very deity one desires when composing a treatise on it, just as one pays homage to Mañjuvajra with "Glorious One," etc., for he is the very deity desired by the venerable Buddha-wisdom. That which is in accordance is, for example, paying homage to the Bhagavan, free from attachment, with "Abode of Glory," etc., at the beginning of the Prātimokṣa vows. That which combines both is, for example, when the author's deity is the same as that of the treatise, just as the venerable Nāgārjuna, in the Condensed Method of Accomplishment, pays homage to the Bhagavan, the glorious Vajrasattva, with "Liberated from the conduct of the three realms," etc. Here, too, it is the same, being only that which combines both, for Vajrasattva is the desired deity, and the chief object of the exposition is also he. Likewise, other homages are only of four kinds: those of body, speech, mind, and the unsurpassed. Those of body are prostrations with the five limbs, etc. Those of speech are characterized by praise. Those of mind are characterized by contemplation, etc. Likewise, the unsurpassed homage is characterized by following in its nature, as it says: "As water into water, as oil into oil, with one's own wisdom, to see well that is homage here." etc., will be explained. Furthermore, one might ask, what is the necessity of performing homage? The necessity is the pacification of obstacles; homage.

Because praising the great being starting with the syllable "va" obtains merit, when non-merit recedes, in order to pacify the outer and inner obstacles arising from non-merit, and because pacification leads to the complete fulfillment of the treatise, therefore, pacifying obstacles is the result of prostration. Among them, outer obstacles are those that rely on tangible and intangible things. The obstacles made of the five great elements such as earth are those that rely on tangible things. The obstacles caused by livestock, wild animals, birds, snakes, and teachings are the obstacles that rely on intangible things. Inner obstacles are of three types: body, speech, and mind. Among them, bodily obstacles are caused by wind, bile, phlegm, and so on. Speech obstacles are caused by harsh words and so on. Mind obstacles are caused by desire and so on. All these obstacles are pacified by remembering the Bhagavan. Here, is there no mistake seen in prostration? In the place where prostration is done, the pacification of obstacles is not seen, because when half of the commentary explaining the meaning and prophecies of the spoken tantra was done, the commentator died. In the place where prostration is not done, the pacification of obstacles is seen, such as the four lamps of Nagpo'i zhal snga nas and so on. If you say so, it is true, because the author of the treatise starts by considering the fruit of fame, which has characteristics, because only the causes related to that fruit exist, so only fame can pacify obstacles. In the place where prostration is not done, other sounds expressing auspiciousness are also the cause, for example, the word "thus said," which is a word connector with multiple meanings, so the sound "thus said" has the meaning of auspiciousness. Or, even if prostration is not done there through speech, it is done through body or mind, so everything is without fault. It is too much, so let it be enough, the matter at hand should be examined. I pay homage to the protector, the very nature of all sentient beings, the glorious and blissful one. Following the yoga tantra, I will explain the order of vajra recitation.

Having paid homage to the Protector, the Bhagavan, the glorious Vajrasattva, the Lord of all Tathagatas, I shall explain and narrate the order of Vajra recitation, that is, the indestructible and imperishable order of Vajra recitation. What kind of Protector? It is the self-nature of all sentient beings, pervading the stable and moving beings. Glorious is the accumulation of merit and wisdom; one who possesses these is glorious. Great bliss is liberation, because it is the cause of liberation, hence it is great bliss. From following the Yoga Tantra. The Yoga Tantra is the one named Glorious Guhyasamaja. From following it means to extract from it, which is the meaning of the words. Or else, the Protector is the one to be taken. The nature of emptiness is the nature of all beings, therefore all sentient beings are the self-nature. Glorious is the Dharmakaya, and one who possesses it is glorious. Among the great Bodhisattvas such as the Shravakas, the essence of the supreme Bodhi is bliss. Having paid homage to that, then the order of Vajra recitation. I shall explain the characteristics of the naturally pure eunuch's recitation. From following the Yoga Tantra. As before, it is the general meaning. Or else, in this way, the Protector is the chief of all aggregates and so on. The existing thing is called sentient being, that is, Bodhicitta. All are the channels, Seventy-two thousand. Its self-nature means that the Bodhicitta arising from the channels can generate all beings. Glorious is wisdom, and one who possesses it is glorious. Great bliss is the co-emergent Suchness, one's own nature. Having paid homage, following the Yoga Tantra, Vajra recitation, that is, I shall explain the recitation of the nature of Suchness of consciousness and wind, which is also the general meaning. Or else, the Protector is the nature of the four instructions. All are desire, such as joy, non-desire, and those in between desire. Sentient beings are mirages and so on.
