Because it is not to obtain the Suchness of all emptiness, nor is it to obtain the co-emergent Suchness of the nature of being extremely clear and joyful even after all desires and so on have been completely purified. Therefore, this meditation is not the ultimate cause of attainment, nor is it the perfection of the completion stage. Therefore, it should be abandoned. However, you should focus on that very emptiness and luminosity in which desire, freedom from desire, and the intermediate stages of desire are gradually abandoned; this is what should be accepted and relied upon. And what is that like? Like the surface of the sky, like the expanse of the sky, it is not stained by sudden impurities and is pervasive; this cannot be pointed out as 'here' or 'in such and such a place' and is unobstructed. Supreme is because emptiness exists above all, therefore it is supreme, know that it is the only Suchness. Such instructions from those Tathagatas will greatly inspire Shakya Simha and are ultimate. The fruit of that is: Having obtained the state of luminosity, one will be born as a self-enjoying form, one will obtain all power, and one will rejoice with the Vajra body. It is said that when, through the order of purification of desire and so on, through seeing the three, such as appearance, one obtains the state of luminosity, that is, the fourth, all emptiness, another way of saying it is when one obtains the great bliss of co-emergence, at the time of obtaining, one will be born as a self-enjoying form, that is, a form of self-mastery, a rainbow-like image body, which is transformed into a wisdom body through the order of self-blessing, able to accomplish the benefit of all sentient beings. After that, one obtains all power, that is, from all of the Pervader, the Fierce One, Brahma, and so on, as well as the Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas, one obtains the wisdom that transcends the world, that is power, one will obtain it. Or: The power of body and speech, likewise the power of mind, all the power of miraculous abilities and qualities, the speaker, the doer, the qualities of...ྒྱད། When these powers called "自在" are obtained, one transforms into the Vajra body, the fearless body of wisdom, and rejoices. Going from Buddha-field to Buddha-field, until the existence of Samsara, especially for the sake of virtuous beings, one does beneficial deeds and rejoices and is satisfied. This is the hidden meaning. In order to show that immediately upon hearing the words of the Tathagatas, one enters into the Samadhi of Shakya Simha, it is said: Having heard that sound, Then abandoning the immovable, In the middle of the night, The son of the Victorious One focuses on that. The body is neither straight nor crooked, Nor is it not straight or straight. It is neither exhaling nor inhaling, Neither speaking nor not speaking. Neither opening the eyes nor closing them, Neither closing the eyes nor opening them. Clear and bright great wisdom, All is empty, most wonderful. By the grace of the Guru's presence, From then on, it will be clearly seen. Thus it is said. In order to show the suchness revealed by such words, abiding in the realm of the Tathagatas, thinking, "This is not the pure realm of suchness," one abandons and discards the immovable Samadhi of great emptiness, and in the middle of the night, that is, at midnight, the son of the Victorious One, Bodhisattva Shakyamuni, focuses on the suchness of the fourth instruction. The meaning here is: All the Tathagatas abiding in the sky, first emanate a wheel of light, making it a suitable vessel, then emanate a mudra of wisdom, and establish it there. These together enter into Samadhi, and through the sequence of intervals, nights, and days, together manifest the innate suchness, and abandon the immovable Samadhi. Because the wisdom empowerment is secret, in the middle of the night, the fourth suchness will be focused upon and attained. Therefore, the wisdom empowerment given to disciples at midnight even today is the very place where the Guru lineage abides, it is ultimate. How then will suchness be seen? Therefore it is said:

Some yogis and others meditate by keeping their bodies straight. Some sit in the lotus position and other postures that are not straight, focusing on meditation. Some meditate with their eyes open, looking at images such as paintings. Some meditate with their eyes closed, using preliminary practices and so on. Shakya Simha does none of these, because he has attained the pervasive Suchness, so he does not need other behaviors such as moving the body. External physical disciplines and mudras are to be practiced in order to attain Suchness and to control the mind. If one can attain it through the kindness of the guru, then what is the use of wrong elaborations that cause suffering to body, speech, and mind, and that distract from samadhi? As it was said before, "If one has found the elephant, why look for the elephant's footprints?" This is the true intention. Shakya Simha sees and realizes the co-emergent, which is the Suchness of emptiness and luminosity. How does one see and realize it? It is pure, having abandoned the faults of discursive thoughts such as attachment, like water that has been purified by a clear jewel, pure and without stain. Clear means that it is to be correctly understood through the direct perception of yoga, that is, without discursive thought and appearing clearly. The stains of discursive thought are of the nature of darkness, so all things with discursive thought do not appear clearly. As it is said, "Like the wheel of time, by the power of meditation, it appears as clear, the non-deceptive consciousness, is non-discursive direct perception. From the continuity of discursive thought, luminosity does not appear, although there is memory in dreams, the arising of memory is meaningless." Great wisdom is supreme among the wisdoms such as appearance. Supreme means that it is to be accepted, and others are to be abandoned.
