arises depending on the consciousness and the Alaya consciousness, relying on the three distinctions, and thus revolves in samsara. How are they distinguished? Night is the entering consciousness. Day is the consciousness of the afflicted mind. The boundary is the Alaya consciousness, and on it are established names such as appearances in a pure manner. This mind, the Blessed One has explained and taught in the sutras and tantra kings in these and those three aspects. This prevents it from being merely one's own desire, and the cause of the accomplishment of that mind, that is, the accomplishment of arising, will be explained: The winds, with the form of emptiness, after mixing with knowledge and truth, arising from the gate of the senses, then fixate on objects. Here, driven by the faults of the habits of birth and karma, the Gandharva (গন্ধর্ব,gandharva, fragrance seeker) mind, possessing all the senses, abiding in the intermediate state, driven by the habits of desire and hatred, at that time, when the male and female organs unite, enters the womb, enveloped by their semen and blood, gradually forming a gelatinous state, a congealed state, the appearance of limbs, etc., bones, skin, hair, and other substances, gradually transforming into a sentient being over nine or ten months, appearing from the mother's womb, able to see, hear, smell, taste, touch, and know things. Then, wandering about with afflictions such as desire and hatred and near afflictions, dying again and again, and arising in the same way, thus, in the six realms possessing the endless suffering of the prison of samsara, arising like the turning of a water bucket, this is the path of arising for sentient beings. That is to say, the wind, that is, the collection of winds such as life, is the form of emptiness, that is, emptiness by nature, that is, the Gandharva mind possessing only consciousness, completely mixed with the semen and blood bindus in the mother's womb. Later, that is, arising from the womb, from the gate of the senses, that is, the gate of the senses such as the eyes.

It arises and grasps objects such as form. At that time, through the power of attention to the eye, form, ear, etc., the consciousnesses of the eye, etc., arise. This is the manner of the arising of mind, and not a hidden meaning. Now, it is the manner of the arising of the natures of mental factors. It is said in the scripture: 'When the wind has become the mount, whenever it possesses appearance, at that time, all those natures arise simultaneously or gradually.' This is the meaning. The wind itself is the mount of consciousness, and appearance is the nature of pleasure, pain, and equanimity. As objects appear, accordingly, when images arise, such natures of mental factors arise. How do they arise? Simultaneously or gradually. At once or gradually. Do mental factors not arise gradually? How do they arise simultaneously? Answer: In the manner of principal and non-principal. Like the sound of many musical instruments playing together. Likewise, when experiencing various things such as sugar, the difference in taste that one can individually recognize, only the superior ones can experience. Likewise, when experiencing things, only the special moments of mental factors arise. Therefore, there are also times when they arise simultaneously. This is the manner of the arising of mental factors, which is the general meaning. Now, it is the differentiation of natures from the aspect of the movement of wind. It is said in the scripture: 'Wherever the wind abides, that nature generates that nature, until the wind has not moved, the appearance does not move or change.' This is the meaning. Previously, it has been said that wind has five and ten types, and its abodes, such as the heart, and the differences in actions have been explained. However, if one examines its nature, wind arises from the wheel of the Dharmadhatu, which is luminous. Therefore, the three channels, left, right, and middle, are the paths. Therefore, in whatever place, that is, the left channel, the right channel, or the middle channel.
