If it is said that doing so is certain, then what does it ascertain? Is it the body or the mind of the ascetic? For the moment, it is not the mind, because it is not appropriate to ascertain the mind that is pervasive and without a body. These dharmas are embodied and not pervasive. If it is said that it is the body because it is related to the dharmas mentioned above, then what is the use of taking bone piles, hair knots, staffs, and khatvangas, which are to be accomplished with great effort, abandoning things that can be accomplished with small efforts such as grass bundles? Taking those things, just like other autonomous people, those ascetics will also become without autonomy. Since this is the case, how can they show the actions of the body as if they were autonomous, just as they sleep comfortably and live comfortably, the ascetics also do the same? Can't those non-ascetics accomplish the enjoyment that can be accomplished merely through the limbs just mentioned, through other efforts? If it is said that it is to obtain the supreme king, etc., then, from the beginning of practicing asceticism to the end of death, it has not been seen in any ascetic. If it is said that it is to bless in order to obtain an extremely stable and infinitely varied vast land of enjoyment, thereby becoming close to the desired god, and to achieve a nature that is always satisfied, completely pervaded by perfect happiness, incompatible with other characteristics, and to obtain enjoyment through another body at another time, then, alas! The state of being bound by the net of evil desires, wanting to destroy the body by the power of thought, and being controlled by ignorance, is worthy of sorrow. Because, those peacocks who strive to find the stainless water produced by charity, even though they are animals, if analyzed from the perspective of the happiness of the mind, they are striving for the body itself, so they should not be blamed. Ascetics, enjoying rock candy and brown sugar with their minds, will become happy, but will become something different from the body, which is like a flower in the sky. Because these are merely beliefs, therefore remain silent. This reasoning can prohibit the asceticism of the perfect yogi. As it says in the scriptures: Afflicting the body with asceticism, merely doing so is not merit, it does not avoid harming others, nor does it benefit others. Towards the great path of the noble Dharma of generosity, discipline, and patience, being disrespectful, and in a solitary place, going astray, one suffers the pain of the body. Limbs entangled in suffering, the solitary place of samsara is terrifying, countless beings possessing forests, will obtain extremely long suffering. Thus it is said. In the tantra called 'The Gathering of All the Gods,' it is asked, what is the asceticism of the yogis like? Whenever all actions are performed with skillful means and without doubt, with a non-discriminating mind, this is the supreme of all asceticisms. What is called asceticism? Constantly performing all actions in the nature of non-discrimination, this is the supreme asceticism of all asceticisms. Because one relies on objects with a non-discriminating mind, one is not harmed even a little by slander, this is the asceticism that is difficult to overcome. Whatever actions are done, one definitely combines them with wisdom, and that also combines with the state of emptiness, this is the asceticism of the great self. Entering into wisdom, with a non-discriminating mind, one performs what is to be performed without doubt, this is the asceticism of the great self. If wisdom is without skillful means, the mind does not turn to other things, that will give great enlightenment, it is truly said that this is certain. Following non-discrimination, the yogi who possesses diligence, they elaborate all elements for the sake of action. Entering into the mirror of wisdom, that is the form of what is made. Those of non-discriminating nature, memory and wisdom are interdependent, like the image in a mirror, dreams, illusions, bubbles, and visual tricks are similar, whoever sees that is said to be the most important. Thus and so forth it is said. Therefore, in the glorious Dakini Net Ritual Tantra, it says: Self is all Buddhas, self is all Bodhisattvas, this is the yoga of the supreme deity. Therefore, I...
