The recitation of the five Tathagatas and the sixth Vajrasattva is completed. Having said this, prostrate to Vajrasattva and pay extreme homage. On the full moon day, that is, the last day of the month, the yogi achieves accomplishment. In terms of one's own benefit, one obtains the accomplishment of the Great Seal, and in terms of the benefit of others, one obtains the accomplishment of peaceful and other activities. This is its meaning, not its intention. Now, the perfect yogi will achieve accomplishment merely by reciting the Vajra, because there is no need for austerities and so on. There is no discussion of austerity in this regard. No rosary is needed, no counting is needed. Pacifying and increasing activities are needed. Nothing else is needed. Thus it is said. In this regard, austerity means holding the signs that must have existed previously. The Blessed One did not teach the Vajra recitation yogi, because it was not taught. Similarly, this should also be examined by reason and scripture. If someone asks, what is this austerity? Is it keeping the hair in a topknot? Wearing special clothes? Drawing three dots? Holding three staffs? Smearing with ashes? Being very laborious? Following the moon? Or just holding up the head? Holding a bone rosary? Begging? Just sleeping on the ground? Going from one place to another? If someone says that through the difference of viewing, one can see many very famous differences of austerity that should be practiced, then seeing is true. However, if one asks again, why not do other things, such as bottomless pottery, bundles of grass, swings, etc., being placed on the neck, hands, feet, etc., thus becoming a burden on the body, sorrow of mind, and a cause for the laughter of the world? If the body and so on are painful and are the fruit of the world's laughter, then it should absolutely not be done. Then what should be done? If someone says that only the rituals that have the nature of certainty, which are spoken of in the scriptures and have the fruit of enjoyment and liberation, then what is scripture and what is it like? It itself is a measure, so what is its definitive essence like? If through this, certainly
