Because it is non-existent, it should be abandoned. For the ignorant who are attached to affairs, the distinctions of wisdom should not be generated. This is what is said. There are two types of wanting to know: doubt and seeking the truth. If one doubts and does not believe, then it should be abandoned, because doubt itself will deteriorate. This is what is said. There are also two types of wanting to seek the truth: those who do not possess valid cognition and those who possess valid cognition. What is it that does not possess valid cognition? It is that which does not rely on reason, but merely because others point it out, one acknowledges the truth. However, among those who claim existence, the most excellent one is not an object of debate, because in this way, his doubts can be quickly dispelled. If one possesses valid cognition, then it is counted as the third type of knowledge. For the time being, this could be any one of the Lokayatas, the Pacifiers, the Samkhyas, the Naiyayikas, the Vaisheshikas, the Offerers, the Speculators, and so on. Among them, the Lokayatas, merely because they possess valid cognition, assert non-existence, because there is no other valid cognition other than direct perception, so they have become an object to be refuted. Like this, not accepting inference and other valid cognitions, and thinking that there is no afterlife, turning away from liberation, following one's own certainty, therefore saying: After the bones have turned to ashes, how could they possibly revive again? For the opponent who speaks in this way, other scholars who are very diligent have already refuted his faults with attachment.

A laughingstock for everyone, doing illogical things, condemned by great people, succumbing to unwanted behaviors, who else should be ridiculed more than you? Secondly, if I practice cleanliness in order to conform to the world, then the world is divided into two types: those with scriptures and those without. Among them, those with scriptures follow the scriptures, while those without scriptures merely follow the crowd, as they say, "Wherever the great man goes, that's the path." Secondly, if one strives in this way to generate inner happiness, what does it have to do with anything? How can the face, hands, feet, etc., being well-adorned, generate inner happiness? Furthermore, if the aggregation of causes and conditions of external objects, being close to the body's senses, etc., and the particularity of the mind's increase are the cause, then this should not be ridiculed, because you will be relying on the tenets of my school. Secondly, if admitting mind is a fault, then we have no mind other than the four elements. If that is the case, then since the four elements themselves are inanimate, the pot and cloth should be perceived like each other, or become perceivers and non-perceivers. If someone says that the four elements of the body's nature have sensation, then this is admitting mind by another name. Or, I do not admit awareness other than the body's four elements, but they are the nature of awareness, and the dead body is not like that because of the incomplete aggregation, without wind and fire, etc., if one says this, then just like form, etc., in the body, the mind cannot be experienced by the senses as "this." Nor can it be said that it is apprehended by self-cognizance. It is not reasonable for one object to be cognized by different valid cognitions, because in all cases it appears as "what is this," therefore the pot is not self-cognizance through some parts, but what appears as "I," different from that, is self-cognizance. The thing itself and the moment itself are its essence.

So, in the case where you have admitted that the objects of valid cognition are different, will this also become like that? It is not true, because they are the same in the realm of direct perception. Because of the illusion of seeing different kinds of similarities, one thinks that things are permanent. Those who do not recognize the difference and claim that things are permanent are merely believing through inference. For this, for things that do not have different objects, there is no illusion that would become different cognitions. The former Lokayatas said that just as wine made from grains and bran, etc., produces the ability to intoxicate over time, the elements mixed with substances such as semen and blood also produce the ability of the mind. To those who say this, it should be said: Is that ability different or not different? If they are different, then what is the connection between them called "that"? If you say it is an aggregation, that is not possible, because just like that, it will also be specified as "that is also this." If you say it has been said before, then the example of the ability of wine is also inappropriate, because the so-called ability of wine is something that needs to be examined because it cannot be seen simultaneously. When someone only sees the substance of wine without tasting it, they will not experience the ability to intoxicate. When it is experienced, the substance of the wine dissolves in the body, so it is not visible. If it does not dissolve, it cannot produce the ability to intoxicate in the body. In that case, on their side, when the elements of the body are visible, the mind is not visible, and when the mind is visible, the body is not visible, but they also think that both are visible. Those who believe that the body and mind both arise from the same thing, because the cause is the same, so the body and mind that exist as the support and the supported object are not from another world, are actually only admitting another form of consciousness. When the body is destroyed, it should not also be destroyed, because it has not been seen that when a wooden bowl is destroyed, the fruit of the Eucommia ulmoides is also destroyed, so when the support is destroyed, the supported
