At that time, samsara also appears, like an image in a mirror. What flows is the sentient world. What does not flow is the container world. What is grasped is the object, such as form. The grasper of that is mind, such as eye consciousness. The twelve links of dependent origination are from ignorance to old age and death, revolving like a chariot wheel. Virtue is faith and so on, because it is the cause of happiness. Non-virtue is desire and so on, because it is the cause of suffering. The rest is easy to understand. These also arise from the mind, so the mind is their cause. Then, are these different from or the same as the mind? Because it is not the form of two. Good protection and so on are mentioned, samsara is from ignorance to old age and death, because it revolves by the power of delusion. From karma, the formless cannot be shown. Then, from what does the seed arise? It manifests from consciousness, there is no other cause than that. This is the general explanation, and below is the explanation from a special point of view. The wheel of the body is the birth of the body. The realm of consciousness is because there is no object of distinct awareness and no action. Entering various bodies means generating all bodies. Then, will it itself become the agent? No, this realm of consciousness generates the body, so it can also be said to be the agent, meaning that by the reason of generating the body, it is the agent, but it is not the same as the self (आत्मा,ātman, self). Why? Because it is not form, not permanent, not solid, not one, and not many. Then, what does this consciousness rely on? This realm of consciousness relies on the dharma realm, because it is pure and non-abiding, and arises from it, and enters into it. Therefore, inexhaustible is because it is different from other realms. What kind of wisdom is consciousness? It is complete wisdom, it is endowed with supreme wisdom. Why? Because it remembers the previous body.

Because it is the knowledge of remembering previous abodes. The example of this, such as "this realm of consciousness," etc., is easy to understand. Then, because he did not know how consciousness takes the body, he asked, "What is the nature of the consciousness that transmigrates from the body?" This means how does consciousness take a body again and again? In taking a body, if it is associated with ignorance, it takes an inferior body; if it is associated with supreme wisdom, it takes a superior body. The rest is the meaning. Then, who can reveal that consciousness? "The Tathagata can reveal it," meaning that this consciousness, because it possesses supreme wisdom, is revealed by the Tathagata. It is also said that this consciousness is not the realm of others, so it is revealed by the Tathagata. Someone might think, why must it be revealed by the Tathagata? "There is no other besides the Tathagata," meaning that no one other than the Tathagata can reveal consciousness. When consciousness is not revealed, consciousness will not be understood. When consciousness is not understood, all dharmas will not be understood. When all dharmas are not understood, there is no cultivation, no abandonment, and no attainment of fruit. The rest is easy to understand. Prince Youthful Physician is the summary here. The so-called "five hundred lifetimes" indicates the one who wrongly conceives, the time of wrong conception, what to abandon wrong conception about, how to conceive, the time of abandonment, and so on. Among them, because he did not understand what consciousness is, he asked, and mentioned "when taking a body, like a seed," etc., meaning that the sprout of the seed of mind arises, which is easy to understand. Someone might think, why is it called consciousness? The answer is that it also fully understands virtuous actions, etc. The rest is easy to understand. Then, because he did not understand the classification of consciousness in detail, he asked. The answer is, "Consciousness arises from clear light," which indicates that the ultimate truth is the cause. The so-called "that itself is mind and intellect" indicates the different names of this mind.

Homage! All defilements are the dharma of samsara, and complete purification is the dharma of nirvana. Its root is its cause, which shows all seeds. Therefore, this discriminating consciousness generates all others. From this arise the two kinds of distinctions of self and other, which is because the power of awakening the seeds will cling to the subtle secrets of myself and mine. That discriminating consciousness is the rider, what does it ride on? Riding on the wind, it enters the path of the senses. What will the wind become? The fire burns in heat. What will those gathered together become? The nature of gathering is water. What will that become? It is the nature of the earth to be relied upon. What will that become? It mentions the five aggregates and so on. Then, what arises from the mind is the three kinds of discriminating consciousness, namely appearance and so on. What is experienced completely clearly is form and so on. What will that become? The natures will arise, that is, detachment and so on will arise. What is that? Because at first I didn’t understand the kinds, in order to eliminate the wrong distinctions about it, I asked, and the answer “Bhagavan” shows the speaker. Wisdom and means are male and female, implying that it also approximately represents hermaphrodites, or it represents hermaphrodites, and approximate attainment is not clear. The other is easy to understand. There, after showing the kinds of appearance and so on, asking what the characteristics of that itself are, the answer “Bhagavan” said, the mind is the three appearances. Being without color and shape is being without color and shape. Having the characteristic of space is giving an example. Like space, being free from discrimination, and saying “again” is expressing. The characteristic of appearance is the three characteristics of the mind. What is experienced later is the later experience, namely nature. It should be examined separately, that is, examined without mixing. This is like, that is, it is like this. The first universal appearance is the three appearances. Later, nature refers to the nature of delusion, which arises from that. What is expressed by appearance and so on is the kind.
