In terms of reasoning, this refers to 'because of that reason.' This is the reason of the scripture. Sounds are of four kinds. From what does it arise? It arises from the letter A (ཨ,梵文:अ,IAST: a, meaning: A), which is synonymous with 'arising from the indestructible.' So, is this A (ཨ,梵文:अ,IAST: a, meaning: A) permanent or impermanent? 'What does not change is imperishable,' meaning that it itself is held, and in the way that the holder does not change, it is permanent, it is imputed. But in the ultimate truth, neither permanent nor impermanent is established. Sound is untrue, it is impermanent, because sound is momentary, therefore it is impermanent. The meaning it indicates is not established in either permanent or impermanent. Why? Because the uncreated is without beginning or end, these are separated from the object of focus and so forth, this is the remainder. And from what is this known? It is said in conjunction with the sutra 'shown in one way,' meaning 'this dharma is prophesied by the language of sound,' meaning that all causes and effects, paths and what is to be abandoned, are shown and explained by the collection of sounds. So, are sound and meaning something that exists as substance? Or not? It is not. 'Dharma and sound here appear without changing,' meaning that in the ultimate truth, what is to be said and what says are non-dual and inseparable. So, what is the use of knowing non-duality? The one way of the nature of reality is non-dual, it is the object to be known. What causes entry into it is the yogi who relies on it. What will that become? 'Will touch the supreme unsurpassed patience.' Meaning the three patiences and the three supreme dharmas, and from the greatly joyous to the tenth is unsurpassed relative to others. All-illuminating is actually unsurpassed, touching it is becoming to obtain it. Is this not intentional? Because it is not intentional, therefore wishing to explain other sutras, it is said, 'Vairochana manifests enlightenment' and so forth, from the action tantra, knowledge and so forth are spoken. Secret Lord, this is calling, in order to answer the question that was asked. The definition of secret mantra is non-conceptual wisdom and its cause. So, what is this wisdom itself? What is not made by all the Tathagatas is unbound.

It means being separate from actions, agents, and so on. It is not rejoicing because there is no object of rejoicing. The rest is easy to understand. Having explained the divisions, lineages, and powers of speech, and so on, then the Vajra Speech is taught. Therefore, it speaks of completeness and incompleteness, and so on. This shows the intention of this very occasion. If you ask from which scripture this explanation is known, therefore, it mentions the Sutra Requested by the King of Miam, and so on. The lord of Miam refers to the Tibetan. "From where do the sounds of all sentient beings arise?" refers to asking because one does not know from where the sound arises. The answer is, "The sounds of all sentient beings arise from the sky," which means that all sounds are without inherent nature and arise from the unconditioned. From that basis, having become doubtful, he asked, "Does sound not arise from within the belly?" This refers to asking whether the sound of the union of body and mind does not arise from the belly. The answer is, "Does it arise from the belly, or does it arise from the mind?" This is asking about the examination of the two, body and mind. The answer is, "It does not arise from the body, nor does it arise from the mind," which means that it does not arise from either the body or the mind. Having asked why it does not arise from either of these two, the answer is given that it does not arise from the body because the body is matter and is not the essence of awareness. Because it is mind or sentient being, it is without movement. Because it is not cause and condition, it has no agent. An example is given, similar to roots and so on. If you say that the mind arises from the opposite of that, it is not so, because there is no increase or decrease, no indication of an object, no touch, and so on, so it is formless. Because there is no indication of "here," it is impossible to indicate. Because there is no cutting off or obscuration, it is without beginning. Because there is no virtue or non-virtue, it is without consciousness. Therefore, it is not the cause of sound. Thus, if neither body nor mind is the cause, then thinking from where it arises, he asked, and the answer is, "The sounds of sentient beings are understood to arise from the sky," which means that the sound of the collection of speech of sentient beings arises from emptiness. Furthermore, thinking that there is a cause, he asked, "If there is no sky, from where does sound arise?" The answer is that there is no other cause.
