Thus it was said. Thus, all the Tathagatas become of the lineage of A, become the lineage of A, and will certainly arise from A. While speaking, if one knows the nature of cessation, which is the nature of verbal discrimination, and the truth as it is, then without relying on sound and non-sound, one can teach the Dharma to the beings to be tamed according to the differences in their thoughts. Therefore, the Blessed One said in the Lankavatara Sutra: "Mahamati, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should rely on meaning, not on letters. Mahamati, a son or daughter of good family who follows after letters will cause himself to fall away from the ultimate meaning, and will not cause others to understand either. For example, Mahamati, if one person points out something to another with the tip of his finger, if he only looks at the tip of his finger and follows it, likewise, Mahamati, the various groups of foolish beings, like the nature of foolishness, are very attached and cling to the finger tip of the word as it is. They are very attached and cling, and then die, abandoning the meaning like the finger tip of the word as it is, and do not seek the ultimate meaning. Therefore, those who desire meaning should rely on it. Therefore, one should abandon attachment to the perversion of the word as it is. One should seek meaning." The Blessed One also said in this sutra that there are four ways of entering into words: "Mahamati, there are four characteristics of verbal discrimination, namely, the words of characteristics, the words of dreams, the words of attachment to evil destinies, and the words of discrimination from beginningless time. Mahamati, the words of characteristics arise from attachment to the form of one's own discrimination as a characteristic. Mahamati, the words of dreams arise from remembering previously experienced objects, even though there is no object of discrimination. Furthermore, Mahamati, the words of attachment to the discrimination of evil destinies arise from remembering the actions previously done with sound. Mahamati, the words of discrimination from beginningless time

It arises from the seed of one's own karmic imprints of negative actions, which are manifestly attached to the elaborations of beginningless time. This is explained because it is said that this is the fourfold nature of great wisdom that distinguishes the form of words. By this reasoning, all sounds are immutable because they arise from the letter A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A). Change is destruction. Immutability is non-destruction. That which is well-revealed through the gate of sound of unreal nature is also the unconditioned nature that has neither beginning nor end. As it is said in the Sutra Teaching the Middle Way of One Dharma: "This Dharma is prophesied by sounds and languages. Dharma and sound do not change here. The nature of Dharma, the one Dharma, also enters into reality, and one will touch the supreme and unsurpassed patience." As it is said. In the Vairochana Abhisambodhi Tantra, it is said: "Secret Lord, furthermore, the nature of mantra is not made by all the Tathagatas, nor caused to be made, nor rejoiced in. Why is that? This is the nature of all dharmas. Just as whether the Tathagatas appear or do not appear, the nature of dharmas is naturally abiding, so is the nature of mantra of mantras. Furthermore, Secret Lord, there is a vidya-mantra called 'that which intoxicates the lord of the desire realm.' By this, all the sons of the gods who enjoy themselves in desire become faint from intoxication, and also show various pleasant places full of many kinds of colorful flowers, and also manifest various kinds of enjoyment and near enjoyment, and also give to the gods of Paranirmita-vasavartin, and also enjoy themselves. Just as the son of the gods, the great Ishvara, has a mantra called 'Swift Mind,' by this, he does the needs of sentient beings in the three-thousand great-thousand world realms, and also manifests all near enjoyment and enjoyment, and also gives to the sons of the gods of the Pure Abode, and also enjoys himself everywhere. Just as, for example, a magician uses mantras to transform pleasure gardens, lakes and rivers, people, and so on.
