Hearing words that describe the faults and virtues of beings whose minds are not yet complete, do not be attached to them, do not be truly happy, do not be afraid, do not be extremely afraid, and do not revile them. Hearing the various differences in sounds, such as continuous and solitary, in worldly and transworldly treatises, do not be attached, do not denigrate, and do not be ignorant, because it is to realize the conduct of all sentient beings, and because it is the suchness of sound. As it is said, in the sutra "Teaching the Entry into All Dharmas" by the Blessed One: "Son of the gods, bodhisattvas who have entered by entering into sound, even if they speak untrue and disrespectful words for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges River, and completely proclaim them, they will not become angry because of that. If they revere, treat as a guru, and offer and serve with all the implements of happiness, robes, alms, bedding, medicine for the sick, and implements for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges River, they will not develop a mind of attachment to that." Similarly, the mantra practitioner who abides in the samadhi of the vajra of speech, the eighth empowerment will not be bound by all of gain and no gain, fame and no fame, praise and blame, happiness and suffering, nor will he be truly happy. Therefore, in order to overcome all worldly dharmas, to be liberated from the samadhi of the generation stage, and to seek a completely secluded mind, one should revere a spiritual friend. The cutting of doubts, which summarizes the complete seclusion of speech, is the third chapter. Chapter Four: Cutting Doubts on the Complete Seclusion of Mind. The Vajra disciple asked: By the kindness of the teacher, through the order of the suchness of wind, there is no doubt about the suchness of mantra and the complete seclusion of speech. Now, how should I learn if I want to learn the complete seclusion of mind? For the benefit of those who are particularly devoted to the profound, the Blessed One, the Vajra Master, teaches.

Please explain. The Vajra Acharya said: Great Bodhisattva, well done, well done! The oral instructions of all the Tathagatas are not the realm of those who truly go on the right path, but not for those who look back. It is very profound, extremely difficult to grasp, and is the realm of the Buddhas. The nature of the mind that is asked about is rootless, nowhere to dwell, without foundation, without characteristics, without shape and color, beyond the senses, and not the realm of reasoning. The Blessed One spoke these words in all the tantras. Therefore, one who abides in the Vajrayana and desires to attain Buddhahood should please the virtuous friend and seek the nature of one's own mind. As the Blessed One said in the Tantra of the Compendium of Reality: Son of the lineage, through equal abiding, realize your own mind individually. And in the Tantra of the Manifestation of Enlightenment of the Glorious Vairochana, it is also said: Enlightenment is to fully know one's own mind as it truly is. And in the teachings of the Tripitaka, it is also said: Wandering alone and wandering for a long time, bodiless and dwelling in the cave of the senses, taming the mind that is difficult to tame, I have declared this to be a Brahmin, and will be liberated from the bonds of Mara. Therefore, one who desires to directly realize the illusory samadhi should abandon all distractions and obscurations, please the Vajra Acharya who has obtained the oral instructions of all the Tathagatas, and follow the tantras such as the Glorious Wisdom Vajra Samuccaya, and realize the nature of the appearance of the three consciousnesses. As it is said in the Lankavatara Sutra: Also, Mahamati, other Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who want to fully understand the manifestation of their own mind, that is, the range of activities of the conceptualizations of the grasper and the grasped, should be without gathering, noise, sleep, and obstacles. These three consciousnesses are the cause of all things, namely: heavens, evil destinies, wandering, non-wandering, grasper, grasped, and dependent origination.

And the wheel of the twelve links of arising, virtue and non-virtue, discrimination and appearance, darkness and light, male and female, and those of the nature of hermaphrodites, etc., birth and abiding and destruction. In short, the objects of the senses of the three realms are the three kinds of consciousness. Thus it is said. As it is also said in the Sutra Requested by Bhadrakara to the Blessed One: The Blessed One said: Bhadrakara, that wheel turns by the power of karma. That karma is not material, but is manifested from consciousness. Likewise, this wheel of the body also arises by the power of consciousness. This realm of consciousness enters into various bodies. This realm of consciousness produces the body, therefore it is also the agent. This realm of consciousness relies on the Dharmadhatu, therefore it is also inexhaustible. This realm of consciousness is also endowed with perfect wisdom because it remembers the state of the previous body. This realm of consciousness should be regarded as being like the rays of the sun. For example, the rays of the sun fall on foul odors and impurities, and also on tastes. However, the sun is not stained by that odor, nor does the sun leave, abandoning the foul odor. Likewise, this realm of consciousness also takes birth in the births of outsiders, and dogs and pigs that eat filth. However, the realm of consciousness is not stained by those bad deeds. Then, the great physician touched the feet of the Blessed One and asked the Blessed One: Blessed One, what is the nature of the consciousness that transmigrates from the body? The Blessed One said: Great physician, what you have asked me now is just right. Excellent, excellent! That question is extremely profound. This question should be explained by the Tathagata. There is no one other than the Tathagata who can show that consciousness. Then, Bhadrakara asked the Blessed One: Blessed One, the young prince, the great physician, is of profound meaning.
