It has been explained. In the third chapter of the Ornament Sutra, "is," etc., after explaining the four categories, it is reasonable to explain the six limits, so it will be explained. It is both a limit and six kinds, so it is six limits. The so-called "words of the six limits" are meaningless. What is determined by this is that the secret collection of all Tathagatas, whatever is sealed by the six limits, is the meaning that is understood through this. So what are these six limits? It says "straightforward and definitive meaning." Why are these called limits? Because in this way, the Dharma is contradictory, existing in various states, so it is a limit, and if it cannot be completely eliminated, it cannot be completely divided. This refers to the contradictory nature of mutual exclusion, like permanence and impermanence. The two, straightforward and definitive meaning, are contradictory because they cannot be completely eliminated and therefore cannot be completely divided. Therefore, for straightforward meaning, it should be understood like literal meaning. Like this, the two, straightforward meaning and definitive meaning, are limits that mutually exclude each other in meaning. The two, literal meaning and non-literal meaning, are called sound limits because they are uncertain in meaning. Speaking with intention and speaking without intention are both called limits because both sound and meaning exist clearly. It is both a limit and six kinds, so these are six limits. Then, in order to show the characteristics of each of the six limits, a person who can eliminate doubts, misunderstandings, and wrong understandings comes to the teacher and asks: What is straightforward meaning? Why examine straightforward meaning? The answer is: For those of bad fortune, the Victorious One speaks hiddenly, which is straightforward meaning. The so-called bad fortune refers to bad fortune, that is, those of the Hearer lineage, etc. Or, there are two kinds of bad fortune: one is bad fortune relative to true bad fortune. True bad fortune refers only to those who have cut off their lineage. The so-called cutting off the lineage does not mean being separated from the seed, but only in relation to afflictive actions, there are two kinds of bad fortune:

As for me, the Shravakas and others belong to the external side, and the individuals of the Sangha belong to the internal side. Why are these called bad fortune? Because they do not have the opportunity to hear the profound and vast sacred Dharma. Because there is no opportunity, is it not the cutting off of lineage? Why is it called bad fortune relatively speaking? The so-called cutting off of lineage means not obtaining all the fruits. But it is not that nothing can be obtained at all. Then, what did the Buddha hide? Why hide it? He hid the profound and vast Dharma of the Tathagata, etc., because they would be afraid just by seeing it. Shouldn't it be taught in all aspects and in all places? No, so it is said to be "provisional meaning." The Blessed One himself also said that there are self, life, nourishment, person, individual, doer, feeler, etc. in the world. It is also said that great-minded beings arise from ignorance. It is also said that, sons of the Buddhas, these three realms are only consciousness. It is also said that all dharmas are without self-nature, only appearance. Son of the lineage, have faith in the yoga of the deities! From here, a true method will never be found. The Blessed One himself understood the special path and the special fruit, and for those sentient beings of bad fortune who should be tamed by what, he teaches the Dharma in that way, which is called the provisional meaning of all the Tathagatas. Then, what is the definitive meaning? Someone asked. The answer is: For the sake of sentient beings who desire the supreme, the definitive meaning is also spoken. The so-called sentient beings who desire the supreme are those who have good fortune, because they have the opportunity to enjoy good fruits. The so-called supreme refers to the supreme accomplishment, which is to cherish it. Or, desiring the supreme means generating desire, because desire is the nature of desire. Friend refers to faith. Faith and mindfulness, etc. will also change accordingly. For the sake of sentient beings who desire the supreme, the meaning of that itself is spoken
