Why do I explain? The first question has already been answered. The second question concerns the examination of whether the deities are common, the substances are common, and so on. The deities are not common, because each deity has its own special function. The so-called special function is as follows: the activity of pacifying is through the application of Vairochana; the activity of increasing is through the application of Ratnasambhava; the activity of subjugating is through the application of Amitabha; the activity of wrathful is through the application of Amoghasiddhi; all activities are through the application of Vajrasattva. Therefore, the deities are not common. The substances are also not common, for example, the substances for pacifying are milk and white flowers, and so on; the substances for increasing are white mustard seeds, calamus, and yellow flowers, and so on; the activity of subjugating is through the application of blood, vermillion, and red flowers, and so on; the activity of wrathful is through the application of poison, large pieces of charcoal, and the flesh and blood of those killed by swords, and so on. Therefore, the substances are not common. The mantras are also not common, because pacifying has the ending (Tibetan: ཤཱནྟིཾ་ཀུ་རུ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: शान्तिं कुरु, Sanskrit Romanization: śāntiṃ kuru, Chinese literal meaning: peace make); increasing has the ending (Tibetan: པུཥྚིཾ་ཀུ་རུ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: पुष्टिं कुरु, Sanskrit Romanization: puṣṭiṃ kuru, Chinese literal meaning: increase make); subjugating has the ending (Tibetan: བ་ཤཾ་ཀུ་རུ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: वशं कुरु, Sanskrit Romanization: vaśaṃ kuru, Chinese literal meaning: control make); wrathful has the mantra ending with (Tibetan: མཱ་ར་ཡེ་ཤེས་པའི་, Sanskrit Devanagari: मार, Sanskrit Romanization: māra, Chinese literal meaning: demon). Therefore, the mantras are not common. The distinctions in mental application are also not common, pacifying is the mental application of loving-kindness; increasing is the mental application of compassion; subjugating is the mental application of joy; wrathful is the mental application of equanimity. The conduct is also not common, pacifying is engaging in generosity; increasing is engaging in sweet speech; subjugating is engaging in beneficial conduct; wrathful is engaging in concordant meaning. Therefore, this is not a common accomplishment. Furthermore, this is considered supreme, or because it is produced from uncommon causes. Other scriptures also say that the supreme accomplishment of all Tathagatas arises from uncommon causes.

Is it said to be supreme? Or is it said that even if it arises from a non-common cause, it is common? If so, that would be too extreme. That is not right, because this is speaking of the completion stage, because it is interdependent. Since everything depends on the appearance of conventional truth, it is also not uncommon. The deity is also not uncommon, because the activities of peacefulness and so on are mixed, but because it is the completion stage and common, it is called that. Therefore, this is a common accomplishment. If it is said that one does not know what this called supreme is, then, therefore, the Buddha is also supreme. Thus it is said that the secret supreme accomplishment of all the Tathagatas is the Dharmakaya and so on. If one asks what this called Dharmakaya is, the ultimate Dharmakaya of all the Tathagatas is without beginning or end, without center, unpointable, unimpeded, colorless, boundless, beyond the realm of number, counting, knowledge, and expression, and separated from all things. In the Ratnakuta Sutra, it also says: 'Light protection exists, this is one extreme. Does not exist, these are two extremes. Constant, this is one extreme. Impermanent, these are two extremes. The Middle Way is without object.' In the Great Collection Ratnakuta Sutra, it also says: 'If you ask if it exists, it becomes permanent. If you say it does not exist, it becomes annihilation. The Middle Way is without object.' In other scriptures, it also says: 'Existence and non-existence are also extremes, purity and impurity are also extremes. The wise, having completely abandoned the two extremes, do not contemplate or abide in the center.' In this very treatise, it is also said extensively: 'The reality of meditating on the non-thing.' It is also explained by scripture that this is supreme: 'Because phenomena are without self-nature, and because of the difference of the three bodies, since it does not arise from the common, this is supreme.' Thus it is said. Therefore, this is the supreme accomplishment. It is not saying Buddha.
