English

In the center of both earthenware vessels, one should write the name of what is to be accomplished. How should it be written? It is said, "Surround it with seed syllables." This means that it should be written between the letters of the mantra. To clarify this very point, it is said, "The sound of homage is in front," and so on. The sound of homage is the letter "Om." This should be written below the name of what is to be accomplished. "Place it before the protective words." This means that the name of what is to be accomplished should be written before "raksha raksha" and so on. "The seed syllable placed at the end" means that at the end of what was said above, "Adorned with the five Buddhas," which means writing the letter "Hum" (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum). "Place the letter of burning at the end" means that at the end of what is adorned with the five Buddhas, the letter of burning, "Svaha" (Tibetan: སྭཱ་ཧཱ, Sanskrit Devanagari: स्वाहा, Sanskrit Romanization: svāhā, Chinese literal meaning: Svaha), should be placed. Having thus placed the letters in the center, regarding how to arrange the periphery, it is said, "Sound letters, etc., on the periphery." This means that on the upper periphery, on the second earthenware vessel, twelve sound letters that exclude the masculine gender should be arranged, however many there are. Now, regarding the lower earthenware vessel, there are three seed syllables to be placed in the nine squares: "Ka pa, two changing seed syllables." Here, "ka" is earth, and its seed syllable is the letter "Hum" (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum). "Pa" is wind, and its seed syllable is the letter "Yum." "Two changing seed syllables" is the letter "Kshum" (Tibetan: ཀྵུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: kṣuṃ, Sanskrit Romanization: kṣuṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Kshum), because it is a combination of ka and sha. "The name of the Vajra Mother goddess" is the letter "Srum." "The seed syllable of the five-fold mother" is the letter "Hum" (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum). All of these are only arranged in the central nine squares in the order of arrangement of the mantra. Wanting to explain this, it is said, "Homage and burning at the end." The connection is like this: Om, so-and-so, raksha raksha, srum srum, and arrange it like that. In this way, the letter Kshum and so on should also be connected. "Adorned with the five Buddhas." Because it is said to be the seed syllable of the five-fold mother, "Dhyig pa, Lord of the World," and so on, these phrases are all various explanations of the letter Hum. Among them, dhyig pa is a straight line below the letter ha, which is the Lord of the World.
