Then, it should be grasped as three types: inferior, intermediate, and superior. After understanding that there are these three distinctions among practitioners, one should administer remedies separately according to the size of the substance's dosage. Specifically, it is like this: for the inferior, two srangs; for the intermediate, similarly, four; for the superior, six srangs. Medicinal oil should be decocted. It is like that. Similarly, internal (medicines) should also be understood as three types: large, medium, and small. Therefore, it is said, "wind," etc., which is easy to understand. Thus, not only do substances eliminate diseases, but also, according to the distinctions of inferior, intermediate, and superior practitioners of yoginis, they can be used to benefit by extending life, etc., through appropriate formulations. "Etc." includes serum, etc. The increase or decrease of wind, etc., is itself a disease. Among these, filling, emaciation, grasping, moving, and bloating are the five characteristics of wind. Generating desire, warmth, splendor, impurities, and heat is the characteristic of bile. Connecting joints, mucus and oiliness, heaviness, and stability are the characteristics of phlegm. What satisfies is serum. What nourishes is blood. Flesh stabilizes the exterior. Fat makes it oily. What is hard and holds is bone. What fills the cavities is marrow. What increases strength and sustains life is semen. What causes pain in the place of water is urine. It exists in the place of digestion and grasps fire and wind; what satisfies is feces. What stabilizes the skin is dust. What takes in food is essence. What makes the breasts hard and full is breasts. The sixteen subtle bodily constituents burn and sustain life. These are the characteristics of the sixteen bodily constituents, such as wind. Their decrease and increase are disharmonious states. Now, the decrease and exhaustion will be explained. Among these, a decrease in wind leads to less speaking, weak limbs, a dull mind, and becoming sluggish. A decrease in bile leads to low external temperature, diminished internal heat, and becoming lusterless.
