And the mind that is necessarily based on detachment from desire and cessation, and is completely transformed by being related to distinction. Complete solitude is the path, which is to abandon the obscurations of afflictions. Detachment from desire is nirvana. Cessation is separation from the aggregates with outflows. Relying on these means relying on solitude, detachment from desire, and cessation. Being related to distinction means being separated from all conditioned things. Being completely transformed means being perfected from that. Thus, diligence, mind, and wisdom also have five branches. Because knowing has power over this, just as the eye and so on, faith and so on are also called roots. There are also five types of these: the root of faith, the root of diligence, the root of mindfulness, the root of concentration, and the root of wisdom. Among these, faith is the mind's delight in experiencing the results of actions based on the correct view of the world and what is beyond the world. Mental exertion is diligence; correctly guiding the dharmas that rely on the root of faith is the root of diligence. Not forgetting the meanings that are closely guided by the root of diligence is the root of mindfulness. Whatever makes manifest the dharmas that have not deteriorated by the root of mindfulness is said to be the root of concentration. Whatever distinguishes the dharmas that rely on the root of concentration is said to be the root of wisdom. Because the opposing factors such as lack of faith, laziness, forgetfulness, carelessness, and distraction are exhausted, and ultimate perfection is attained, only the roots are called strengths. For example, the strength of faith, the strength of diligence, the strength of mindfulness, the strength of concentration, and the strength of wisdom. Because of realizing correctly by oneself, it is enlightenment, the mind that has transcended duality. What becomes its cause is the branch of enlightenment. Those seven are also like this: the branch of mindfulness as perfect enlightenment, the branch of discriminating dharmas as perfect enlightenment, the branch of joy as perfect enlightenment, the branch of concentration as perfect enlightenment, the branch of diligence as perfect

And the limb of enlightenment, and equanimity (Tibetan), the limb of right enlightenment, and extreme pliancy the limb of right enlightenment. Therein, benefiting all sentient beings and, the aspiration to truly attain enlightenment and, not forgetting having understood the teachings, etc., is the limb of mindfulness right enlightenment. Since phenomena, etc., are nonexistent, discriminating the aggregates, etc., is the limb of discriminating phenomena right enlightenment. The mind of the single taste of dharmata is the limb of joy right enlightenment. Cutting off the self and self-grasping of the antidotes, body and mind becoming serviceable is the limb of extreme pliancy right enlightenment. The four immeasurables and suchness and the true limit and emptiness, and, being one-pointed in the realm of phenomena is the limb of samadhi right enlightenment. The karma of ordinary beings definitely arising is the limb of diligence right enlightenment. Because of becoming the antidote to afflictions, not abandoning the actions of body, speech, and mind is the limb of equanimity right enlightenment. Because of becoming the antidote to afflictions that are solely in accordance with evil, wherever these eightfold noble paths exist, that is the eightfold path. Because it is sought for the sake of meditating to eliminate the obscurations of knowledge, it is the path. Therein, the names of the eightfold noble path are right view and, right thought and, right speech and, right action's end and, right livelihood and, right effort and, right mindfulness and, right samadhi. Therein, right view is seeing that all phenomena are characterized by selflessness, yet seeing that there is a future life. Right thought is making manifest what should be taken and abandoned, and contemplating abandonment or thinking of knowing alone. Right speech is showing the meaning of how it has become. Right action's end is the unsurpassed action of body, speech, and mind. Right livelihood is wealth sought with intelligence. Right effort is the continuous action of body, speech, and mind that accomplishes the benefit of oneself and others. Right mindfulness is not being deluded about the phenomena that have been understood in this way.
