Here, taking the pistil of a lotus as a support, with a large, unwritten bindu, the line of the mind is as thin as a lotus stalk, and four lines make nine meshes. Outside of that, it is circled, and then circled a second time. On the edge of the circle of the bindu, the neuter letters are placed in the four directions, and one should meditate on them. From each of these letters, rays of five colors emerge like the tip of a flame from above, clearing away the afflictions and karmic accumulations of limitless sentient beings, and then gathering again, dissolving into the great emptiness of the wisdom body. One should do this without any object of focus. Afterwards, from the great emptiness, emanate a hundred letters, including the five letters, and expand them infinitely, recognizing that all phenomena that appear in this way are merely letters and designations. This should be done. Now, in order to reveal the meaning through mere names, "Manjushri Wisdom Hero" is spoken. The so-called "Manjushri Wisdom Hero" refers to the letter "A" located on the wheel of emanation. This itself is the ultimate letter. Being free from defilement in this way, it is "Manju." Accomplishing the benefit of oneself and others perfectly, it is "Shri." Completely abandoning all ignorance, it is "Wisdom." Whoever comprehends its meaning is a "Hero." It alone can symbolize the nature of all phenomena, so it is "A." "It alone" refers to the sound that truly reveals things. "All phenomena" refers to the phenomena of samsara and nirvana, that is, all the skandhas, dhatus, ayatanas, etc., as well as the Tathagatas, goddesses, bodhisattvas, etc. "Nature" refers to the essence. Being able to symbolize, it is the letter "A." Thus, in the "Great Tantra King, Second Chapter," it is said: "ཨ་ཀཱ་རོ་མུ་ཁཾ་སརྦ་དྷརྨཱ་ཎཾ་ཨཱ་དྱ་ནུདྤན་ན་ཏྭཱ་ཏ་(Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: अकारो मुखं सर्वधर्माणां आद्यनुत्पन्नत्वात्, Sanskrit Romanization: akāro mukhaṃ sarvadharmāṇāṃ ādyanutpannatvāt, Chinese literal meaning: A is the beginning of all dharmas, because it is primordially unborn)." Therefore, all phenomena are of the nature of being unborn from the beginning. Comprehending its meaning is comprehending the essence of all phenomena. Some here think that the so-called unborn is merely a temporary emptiness. One should not view it in this way, because these dependent arising phenomena themselves

unborn, all like the moon in water. Thus it is also said: Whatever arises dependently, by its very nature is unborn. Thus it is said. Herein it is also said: The great life is unborn, meaning it is both life and great, hence it is said thus. Again, in this it is said: The unchanging, all-pervading one. The unchanging is because it is unconditioned. The all-pervading is that which follows after various things. Pervading means pervading all things, both stable and moving. All things. Therefore, this transforms into various forms, hence it is the wheel of transformation. It is surrounded by the five great elements, hence it is said: The five great elements are of one cause. Thus it is said. Its support, the body, at the time of arising, is also surrounded by the five great elements, and arises. It is also said: From one great bliss, it transforms into five places. Thus. From that very A, surrounded by fifty groups, is as follows: First, from the sixteen letters of A, the distinction of elements should be spoken. A A etc., are the realm of space. It arises from within. I I etc., are the letters of the wind element. It arises from the qualities of Ya. E Ai etc., are the letters of the fire element. It arises from the qualities of the letter Ra. Ṛ Ṝ ḷ Ḹ are the qualities of fire and earth, called the four neuter vowels. O Au etc., are the letters of the water element. It arises from the qualities of Va. Aṃ arises from the realm of consciousness. It is the nature of the mind of enlightenment. Aḥ arises from the realm of wisdom. Also, Aṃ is the realm of the moon. Aḥ is the realm of the sun. From these, the elements are divided into five or six. Thus, from the qualities of the vowels, the arising of consonants should also be observed. What is it? Like this: Ka Kha Ga Gha Nga etc., arise from the qualities of the vowels A A. A Ku Ha etc., the sound arising from the throat, is the realm of space. That is the consonant distinguished by the vowel Ya. Ca Cha Ja Jha Nya etc., arise from the qualities of the vowels I I.
