Having sprinkled with water mixed with white mustard seeds, turmeric, and cow dung, the teacher holds the thread with his left fist and the disciple with his right fist facing west, stretching it to the east and west, and recites this mantra: Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ kāyavākcittekabhūtāḥ sarvadharma ekākāreṇa vajrasattvohaṃ vajrabhūmiṃ sūtrayāmi hūṃ āḥ phaṭ. Then, the mantra of the vajra thread should be recited: Oṃ vajrasūtraikākārasvarūpeṇa jaḥ jaḥ jaḥ sarvadharmanasūtraya oṃ āḥ hūṃ hoḥ kṣaḥ phaṭ. The left leg is in a half-lotus position, with the right leg on the ground, and the disciple's right leg is in a lotus position with the left leg on the ground, thus drawing the boundary line in the east and west directions. Then, the teacher is situated in the south and the disciple in the north, drawing the boundary line in the north and south directions, that is, at the four gates, which are above the pegs of the east, west, south, and north. Then, draw the diagonal lines according to one's own wish, and again in the same manner as the lotus posture, draw the lines of wind, fire, truthlessness, and power. Then, abandoning the destruction of the directions, starting from the boundary line of the east and west, draw a line to the south. Then to the north. Then, starting from the boundary line of the south and north, draw a line to the west. Then to the east. Then, offering incense and perfume, etc., carefully protect the lines needed for the mandala and remove all the remaining things. Having thoroughly purified all the doors, again offer incense and flowers, etc., and give torma, reciting the mantra with the ritual previously mentioned. The condensed commentary on the King of Tantras, the Wheel of Time, following the root tantra, the twelve thousand verses of "Stainless Light," in the chapter on empowerment, is the great summary of taking the earth, etc., preceded by the protective wheel, which is the second. Third: The Great Summary Called Drawing the Mandala. The Wheel of Time, Great Bliss, the Lord of the Mandala Makers, I prostrate to the Supreme Three Vajras. By dividing the parts of the lunar essence, the mandala has sixteen parts. Upon the mandalas of body, speech, and mind, again and again, a rain of nectar is poured, thereby drawing the vajra lines.

In the Collected Tantra of Manjushri Vajra: To subdue the pride of the speakers of the ascetic lineage, The four-cubit glorious mandala, The lines of three and a half fingers, etc., Whatever elaborations were spoken. Following the root tantra, I will elaborate on the characteristics. Here, from the first supreme Buddha, in thirty-six verses, etc., the characteristics of the mandala are summarized, and whatever was correctly stated by Manjushri with "lines," etc., now, following the root tantra, I will explain. Here, on the site of the previous mandala, the Vajra Master facing east, and the disciple, the Vajra-holder, facing west, measure the mandala into a square, and then place the Brahma line in the center. Then, the disciple in the south facing north, and the disciple in the north facing south, place the second Brahma line; this is the determination of the Brahma line. Then, for the purpose of correcting the corners, corner lines should also be placed. Then, "the lines are six and ninety; these should be generously given in all directions from the Brahma line," which means that from the central Brahma line, ninety-six are given to the southern direction, ninety-six to the north, ninety-six to the east, and ninety-six to the west, and then "the half-finger spoken of, the lines of wealth and time, etc.," that is, from these lines, with forty-eight lines, the essence mandala is formed in the center, which means it becomes the mind mandala. "From the essence, all the outer edges," that is, arranged with a hundred more than ninety-two, is also the boundary of the gate of the great mandala, that is, from the line of the essence mandala, with double lines, it becomes the boundary of the gate of the speech mandala. From the line of the speech mandala, with double lines, it becomes the end of the gate of the body mandala. Then, on the body mandala, the five lights, Hayagriva, and the four surrounding areas such as the earth, and the Vajra garland should be observed. The outer earth means the earth of the sky.
