As water enters the ear, it is expelled by pouring it out again. Likewise, understanding things, one also purifies them by that very method. Thus it is said, by relying on the Great Seal, one knows the dharma nature of external and internal things. The second example of obscuration and application is shown: Just as a person who has been burned by fire is benefited by being warmed by the fire again, so too, if one is burned by the fire of afflictions such as desire, by great desire one is attached to the three realms, by great hatred one is separated from attachment to the three realms, and by great ignorance one abandons self and other, which is the path of pacification and relief. By relying on the Great Seal, knowing the dharma nature of desire and so forth, one will be separated from faults. Having explained the characteristics in this way, now explaining the meaning: "By what deeds are beings bound?" Thus it is said, beings of the three realms are bound by deeds arising from unpleasant views of exaggeration and denigration, such as the ten virtues and ten non-virtues. By what means do they transform into higher realms and lower realms? By the path of pacification and relief, knowledge arises without conceptualization, and by knowing the suchness of virtue and non-virtue through insight, and possessing the means of pacification and insight, one penetrates the gap of emptiness in the very nature of virtue and non-virtue, and thus one will be liberated from the bonds of existence. Beings are bound by desire, and they are liberated by desire itself. That is to say, joy, supreme joy, and innate joy have thirty-three, forty, and seven aspects of conceptualization. Being bound by the conceptualization of desire, if one knows the suchness of desire, the three appearances of the mind become clear light, and thus one will be liberated. Showing the conclusion of that: "This meditation of reversal." Thus it is said, by understanding the dharma nature of the continuous arising of desire, one reverses from samsara. This meditation is not understood by internal heretics or those who practice the three baskets. Having shown the arising of the pure deity in this way, the characteristics of the mudra are shown: In the nature of great bliss, one arises

"Nga yi dag nyi chyi." It is said, the great bliss is the self-cognizant clear light of the mind. The speech of the five elements relies on sleep and transforms into five distinct manifestations of the body. How does one realize the non-conceptual consciousness? "From the union of Vajra and Padma." It is said, from the union of the root of the navel, the wheel of manifestation, arises subtlety. If one knows the nature of subtlety, then great ignorance transforms into the nature of Vairochana. If one knows the characteristic of the water element and touch, then great hatred transforms into the nature of Akshobhya. If one knows the nature of warm touch, then desire transforms into the nature of Amitabha. If one knows the nature of the wind moving within the lotus, then great jealousy transforms into the nature of Amoghasiddhi. If one realizes the nature of great bliss, the nature of space, then great miserliness arising from space transforms into the nature of Ratnasambhava. Furthermore, in the Samputa Tantra, it is said: "The distinctions of the three appearances, from this, will be clearly understood." Thus, know the five aspects. "Thus, know the five aspects" means that by knowing the nature of the five elements, one transforms into the nature of the five families. Similarly, understanding the distinctions of the nature of forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile objects, is based on this intention. "From this, thousands of millions arise." This is the conclusion: "Therefore, it is supremely expansive, the activity of great bliss is unique." It is said that the clear light of the mind is great bliss. Although it is unique, it is divided into five aspects by the distinctions of the five minds such as desire. Just as the Tathagata family, like the sands of the Ganges, is one family but transforms into hundreds, thousands, and millions of families, this depends on adventitious wisdom and becomes countless due to the distinctions of the objects of focus. For this reason, the countless families also arise from the family of supreme joy, the clear light. As it is also said in the Samputa Tantra: "Just as from the initial river, fish leap out swiftly, so too from the nature of emptiness and clarity, the net of illusion will arise." Here, "clarity" refers to desire-clarity.
