In the direction of Rapo, it abides thus. By averting the black, it is so. For women, this is Vajrasattva. For men as well, at all times. Thus it is said. Therefore, the sixteen vowels are what enable the realization of the sixteen parts. The parts are: the aspect of semen is the Bhagavan (bhagavan, Devanagari: भगवन्, bhagavan, Possessing Bhaga), its bliss is said to be the desire goddess. This, with the distinction of wisdom and means, becomes thirty-two. Thus, the five letters beginning with A (a, Devanagari: अ, a, without), in order, are the guttural, palatal, labial, cerebral, and dental. They are what express space, wind, water, fire, and earth. For equal seasons, it should be said twice, these are the second of the long letters. The eleventh is when space arises above through combination with wind. The twelfth is when it arises exceedingly above. The thirteenth and fourteenth are so through combination with water. On the fifteenth day, during the day, the realm of wisdom should be spoken accordingly. At night, that very thing doubled, arising from the throat, should be spoken distinctly. The realm of space itself, with emptiness and compassion inseparable, is the realm of wisdom, some assert in this way. Some say that even in that very way, it should only be spoken of as the realm of space. Therefore, at the beginning and end, the realms of space and wisdom, which clearly make it so that they pervade the realms of wind and so on, therefore the letter A (a, Devanagari: अ, a, without) is spoken. Just like that, the letter A (a, Devanagari: अ, a, without) is the most supreme of all letters. As was said before. Therefore, even in the nature of the realms of space and so on, because only semen can reverse the action of non-semen, it is divided into sixteen kinds. And because it can reverse non-bliss, it is divided into sixteen kinds, therefore it is thirty-two kinds. The second moon is like the mandala of the sun arising from the increase of menstruation in women. Therefore, before that, the sun was spoken of first. Therefore, this should be confirmed by the elucidators. Just like here, earth, water, fire, and wind, whichever one arises, all four are there, this is what is said in the scripture. Each with four forms, it is sixteen. Bliss is the realm of space, this is what the scripture says about space.

English

The so-called "realms" are twenty in number, with the nature of the four joys. Because they possess particles, they are doubled, making forty. Due to the nature of emptiness and compassion, and the nature of wisdom and skillful means, they are doubled again, making eighty. Thus, the manifestors that express them, such as ka, etc., are also expressed in two ways due to the effort of lightness and heaviness. Together with ḍa, ḍha, ya, ra, la, and wa, because they are doubled, there are only eighty. Thus, ha, ya, ra, la, and wa are respectively guttural, palatal, retroflex, dental, and labial. They are the expressers of the realms of space, wind, nowhere, and water. Similarly, the five divisions of ka, etc., are also. The divisions, with the nature of the five manifestors, are again respectively earth, water, fire, wind, and space. Śa and ṣa are of wind, fire, and earth. The letter ṣa is the fire particles of the space realm transformed upwards, and in order to prove that it truly possesses that nature, and is transformed upwards and pervades other realms, it is recited at the end. In order to know that the all-pervading emptiness and the indivisible compassion of bodhicitta, arising from the ultimate perfection of practice, without obscuration, is to be realized, therefore the letter a and the tseg drag (heavy punctuation mark) are recited at the end of everything. Therefore, in order to clearly express the emptiness symbolized by compassion, the syllable a is recited at the end of the manifestors such as ka. Therefore, in some cases, considering that the firewood of all obscurations is burned by the fire of wisdom, the letter ṣa is established as manifesting the fire of time. This is: the letter ṣa is said to be a rakshasa. It dwells especially in the lower part. It will be explained that bodhicitta itself is like a rakshasa, because it is equal to devouring all discriminations. Therefore, ka, ṅa, ña, ṇa, na, ma, ha, and ṣa are the manifestors of the space realm. Gha, jha, ḍha, dha, bha, ya, and śa are of the wind realm. Ga, ja, ḍa, da, ba, ra, and ṣa are of the fire realm. Kha, cha, ṭha, tha, pha, and wa are of the water realm.
