This is due to the flow of wind on the ground. Thus, in the Vajra Gate Yoga Tantra, the functions of the ten winds—life wind, downward-clearing wind, equally-abiding wind, upward-moving wind, pervading wind, moving wind, completely moving wind, correctly moving wind, definitely moving wind, and extremely moving wind—are explained. Among them, the wind located in the heart is: Due to extreme suppression and life force, through the gates of the senses, flowing in eternal time, it is known as the life wind. Extreme suppression refers to arising and entering. Life force refers to prolonging life; life is the function of the mind, prolonging and expanding it, which is called life force. Acting as life, acting as breath, hence it is life, the wind transforms into ten forms. Located in the excretory passage is: One wind, feces, semen, etc., for guiding downwards, hence it is the downward-clearing wind. Located in the navel, food, etc., for guiding equally, hence it is the equally-abiding wind. Located in the throat is: For moving upwards and gathering, through swallowing food, etc., it is considered the function of the upward-moving wind. Combining together with perception. Moving upwards is from the nostrils, etc. Gathering is entering internally. Perception and combination are because these ten winds are also flowing. Located in the joints is: Pervading and holding, as well as walking and arriving, etc., for pervading all joints, it is known as the pervading wind. The moving wind is relying on the eyes to generate the consciousness of form. The completely moving wind is relying on the ears to generate perception of sound. The correctly moving wind is relying on the nose to generate perception of smell. The extremely moving wind is relying on the tongue to generate perception of taste. The definitely moving wind is relying on the body's birthplace to generate perception of touch. The noble deity's feet have also said: These ten winds will again become breath and arise, being the nature of the four mandalas, as well as the nature of the five elements, and the nature of the five wisdoms like a mirror, and the nature of the five rays of light. They also become the basis of the three letters, performing Vajra recitation in the order of entering, abiding, and rising. They also become the basis of the letter A (ཨ, A, A).
