Thus it is said, this is about the stages of deity yoga, which was first spoken in the tantra. Thereafter, if the compiler of the generation stage becomes doubtful and asks: Is it not the case that the generation stage cannot be liberated through objects? The answer to that is, calling it by the name of merit, objects can both liberate and bind, because it is the difference between wisdom and ignorance. If asked: Then, is it liberated by the absence of objects? That is not the case either, because it is the difference between wisdom and ignorance. Therefore, the generation stage should be understood as the name of means and wisdom, and should be understood as like a dream, an illusion, and a city of gandharvas. Thus, Heruka should be meditated upon. Similarly, the absence of objects also becomes binding, and also becomes liberating. If one clings to non-existence, that is the view of nihilism. Like a burning lamp can be hidden, but after death nothing can be done. Thus it is said, and also, are not the fruits similar to the cause seen everywhere? Thus it is said, and also, in order to dispel all kinds of inverted views and clinging to self, the Buddhas have proclaimed emptiness. Therefore, objects should be regarded as mere illusions, as the mind of self-appearance. Thus, Heruka should be meditated upon. In general, taking the imputed dharma as the path, taking the dependent body as the path, and taking the perfectly established mind as the path. These should be known as inferior and superior wisdom. In the imputed, the mind imputes existence to what does not exist; in the dependent, the wisdom that understands its causes and conditions; in the perfectly established, freedom from dualistic grasping. These are called the three inferior aspects. The three superior ones are, in general, contemplating as the mandala of the deity is the imputed, the body's channels and chakras appearing as the dependent, and the great bliss of wisdom is the perfectly established. Among these, the first has three: the imputed of the imputed, which is the realization in the self-nature arising from seeds and signs; the dependent, made as the appearance of wisdom; the perfectly established, blessed by great bliss. The three of the dependent are, the imputed is the branch channel or the three chakras. The three channels and the one channel are the dependent of the dependent. The channel Avadhūti or the supreme foundation is the perfectly established of the dependent. Alternatively, the channel of wisdom is the imputed, the channel of means is the dependent.
