The Great King of Tantras, Glorious Hevajra, Commentary on Difficult Points, Eye-Opener. By Dharma Kirti. The Great King of Tantras, Glorious Hevajra, Commentary on Difficult Points, Eye-Opener. By Dharma Kirti. Commentary on Difficult Points of the First Chapter. First: Chapter Explaining the Vajra Family. In Sanskrit: Śrī Hevajra Tantra Mahārāja-sya Pañcikā Netra Vibhaṅga Nāma. In Tibetan: Called "The Great King of Tantras, Glorious Hevajra, Commentary on Difficult Points, Eye-Opener." Homage to Glorious Hevajra! Sama sarva artha siddhi! Namo guru pādāya! Evaṃ mayā śruta eka smin samaya bhagavān. Sarva tathāgata kāya vāk citta hṛdaya vajra yoṣita bhageṣu vijahāra. These are the first words of the introduction. This is explained in terms of sound and in terms of meaning. There are three aspects to sound: the place of the sound's action and its connection, the power of its ability, and the qualities of its name that are specifically designated. In terms of action, it is connected to the place of the sound. This refers to the eight places of subanta-vyākaraṇa, as opposed to the tiṅanta endings and supanti endings of the grammarians. Starting with "who," the third case is connected here, saying, "By whom was it heard? I heard it." As for "when," the time is the first case, not connected to the tiṅanta place. As for "from whom was it heard," the fifth case is connected to the Blessed One. As for "where," the seventh or second case is connected to bhagala. As for "resides," the retinue is shown, connected to what was heard. Therefore, it is said, "For these," and the sound of the fourth case is connected. The power of ability is that the meaning of the root is extracted from this language in the form of a, which leads to the meaning of the beginning and end of the tantra. Also, this language is not fabricated or slandered, but heard from the Blessed One and collected from the dhāraṇīs, and the listeners are respectful. "I" shows that I heard it directly, not through the lineage of the tantra. "Heard" refers only to what was heard, not to realization. At the time of hearing, realization through hearing is not possible, because there is no difference from showing one's own actions, and others would not be respectful. At the time of compilation, there is a difference because it is compiled with meaning and words.

May it be auspicious! One "time" brings forth three qualities. That is, hearing this Dharma at one "time" also allows one to hear other Dharmas, thus showing abundance. If someone asks whether other unheard Dharmas also exist, the answer is yes, because Bodhisattvas are constantly diligent and primarily focus on eliminating the obscurations of knowledge. Therefore, it shows the greatness of the compiler (collector). Also, one "time" shows the rarity of the teachings. Because it is only spoken at that time and not taught at any other time, it is rare. One "time" shows the greatness of the teaching, that is, in a single moment, the listeners are able to achieve the birthplace of liberation, or it is a moment to complete the task. Bhagavan brings forth two qualities. The so-called "Bhaga has six meanings," namely: auspiciousness, fame, wisdom, freedom, beauty, and complete diligence. One who possesses these six qualities is called Bhagavan. This shows the perfection of wisdom. Or, "seven kinds of afflictions, etc.," that is, the word Bhagavan (Tibetan: བྷ་ག་ཝཱ་ན་, Sanskrit Devanagari: भगवाना, Sanskrit Romanization: bhagavāna, literal Chinese meaning: Bhagavan) comes from the word "na," meaning to destroy. That is, destroying the demons of afflictions, such as greed; the demon of aggregates, that is, not being free; the demon of death, that is, falling into the hands of Yama at the time of death; and the demon of the son of the gods, that is, joy. Sarvatathāgata (Tibetan: སརྦ་ཏ་ཐཱ་ག་ཏ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: सर्वतथागत, Sanskrit Romanization: sarvatathāgata, literal Chinese meaning: All Tathagatas), the word "tathā" means "such is Bhagavan." Sarvatathāgata (Tibetan: སརྦ་ཏ་ཐཱ་ག་ཏ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: सर्वतथागत, Sanskrit Romanization: sarvatathāgata, literal Chinese meaning: All Tathagatas), the word "tathā" means "such" or "arrived," that is, abiding in the Dharmakaya. "Gata" means "inconceivable" or "arrived," that is, the Rupakaya and Sambhogakaya. As it is said, "The Blessed One has thus gone, and thus has gone again." Sarva (Tibetan: སརྦ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: सर्व, Sanskrit Romanization: sarva, literal Chinese meaning: all), that is, from the collection of the body, speech, and mind of all Buddhas such as Vairochana, to Hṛda (Tibetan: ཧྲྀ་ད་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हृदय, Sanskrit Romanization: hṛda, literal Chinese meaning: heart), that is, the collection of the essence of the heart, which is indivisible like a vajra, hence it is vajra. Abiding in the consort, that is, the gathering of the senses such as the eyes, the Bhaga assembly abides in the place of subduing anger and desire, that is, the place where the light of wisdom appears, that is where Vajradhara abides. Vijahara (Tibetan: བི་ཛ་ཧ་ར་, Sanskrit Devanagari: विजहर, Sanskrit Romanization: vijahara, literal Chinese meaning: Vijahara), that is, having many seeds of the same kind. Hara (Tibetan: ཧ་ར་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हर, Sanskrit Romanization: hara, literal Chinese meaning: Hara) means to seize, that is, to seize the doubts of the retinue with the main qualities. Saying "abiding" is also like the king abiding in the palace, which can attract the retinue. The king does not abide alone, and there is also the connection of hearing.
