Therefore, it is its own nature that causes arising in samsara. Therefore, in order to accomplish the attainment of the nature of the great bliss Dharmakaya, it is called co-emergent, and its meditation is the only one. Furthermore, why do these three not lead to liberation? First, it is said, "Touch," etc. "Touch" is the vajra in the lotus. "Second" is the desire for happiness that surpasses it. "Third" is the joy of separation from joy. "Destruction of desire" is because it is the nature of being free from desire. Therefore, "Therefore" means that one should meditate on the co-emergent among the four joys. "Supreme joy," etc., "Existence" is the characteristic of samsara, because of desire and attachment to the co-emergent. "Apart from joy" means that separation from joy is shown as nirvana. "Middle way" means that the first joy is only joy, only common happiness. "These" means that the co-emergent, apart from the three that have been taught, is the nature that has not been tainted by the faults of samsara and nirvana, and now it should be meditated upon, not others, up to this point. If so, then the happiness of meditating on the co-emergent can attain the state of the great Vajradhara, because one will personally experience the essence of wisdom. Since it has already been done, what is the use of meditating? It is said, "Not spoken by others," etc. It is not in any place by the guru and Vajradhara, etc., nor is it combined with the four wheels and the lotus of wisdom, because it is to be realized by each individual, and it is beyond the realm of what can be understood. If so, then how is it taught and heard? It is expressed by conventional truth, but not by its own nature, just as the happiness and suffering of gods and hells are taught and heard. If so, then how is it knowledge itself? It is said, "My merit," etc., the practice of

Especially you yourself should be the target. Therefore, meditation is not meaningless, because without complete meditation, it cannot be made manifest. As it is said: Eliminating the noise of existence. Now the path is shown to you. You yourself are the actor. The Tathagata is only the teacher. Thus it is said. If it is said that meditating on the wheel of the mandala and so on, belongs to the lineage, and the co-emergent joy is the near object of manifestation, therefore it is unreasonable to tell others the meaning of manifestation. Therefore, it is said in "From Merit". Thinking like this: The co-emergent joy of worldly people is not to be practiced, because it is already accomplished, and because it is contaminated with outflows, and because samsaric beings have it as their root. Then what should it be like? The Tathagata himself should individually and truly know. The co-emergent called Dharmakaya is what should be practiced here. Moreover, there is no other method, so here, with the co-emergent joy of the world, like the instructions, one should have more faith and meditate, and from the power of complete maturation, one will know for oneself, not from before. Therefore, listening, thinking, and meditating will not become meaningless. The method is the path. Relying on it is truly meditating. That time is very much, meaning many kinds. The time obtained from the lama is the time of the lama, that is, the lama gives it to the capable disciple according to the ritual, which is the meaning of the oral instruction. If it is said, how should co-emergence be meditated? Is it in one place, or is it universally present in various manifestations? It is said in "Lower" and so on, this is a general indication. The explanation of this is in "Subtle Meaning" and so on, the subtle meaning is one's own mind and mental factors. What is called "thing" is one's own body. "The two" refers to one's own body and limbs. The six senses are the eyes and so on that reside in the body.

English

The term 'sentient and non-sentient' refers to external objects with and without consciousness. The term 'I am' means not only that oneself is Vajradhara, the nature of great bliss. The term 'equality is the same' refers to the nature of being without difference. If asked, what is that like? The answer is: it is said 'by meditating on that.' The explanation here is 'taste equality.' Also, the explanation here is 'equality' and so on. Equality means becoming the same. The term 'that' refers to inferior and middling things, and so on. The term 'taste' refers to essence, which is a synonym for the word 'thing.' If asked, what is taste? The answer is: it refers to the co-emergent meaning of being on the wheel of samsara and nirvana, having the characteristic of great bliss. In order to show the meaning in brief, it is said: 'Meditate on the one taste of equality.' Again, if asked, how should one meditate on the one taste of equality? The answer is: it is said 'from me' and so on. Therefore, the yogi, having known this, means having ascertained it in this way. The term 'utterly equal abiding' refers to all times and places. In order to clarify this, it is said 'eating and drinking' and so on. The term 'spontaneously' refers to acting spontaneously. In 'Mahamudra' and so on, there is the meaning of 'in order to accomplish Mahamudra,' which shows the yoga of special devotion. Now, in order to show the mind on this, it is said: 'All activities become meditation.' The term 'all activities' refers to sentient beings and the world of objects; all of these arise from meditation. Why? The answer is: it is said 'by mind,' which refers to the discriminating consciousness. If asked, if one does not examine, will one not be able to meditate? The answer is: it is said 'all dharmas,' which means that completely knowing the co-emergent nature is the meaning of what should be meditated on. In 'firm and moving' and so on, all of these should be meditated on as the form of the ultimate truth, that is, the true image. Again, if asked, what is that ultimate truth? The answer is: it is said 'my essence' and so on. The term 'my' refers to
