is the only certainty. Because from the perspective of self-nature, the nature of Dharma is indivisible, it is believed that the order of the ultimate truth path should not be calculated. As it is said in the commentary on the *Madhyamakāvatāra*: "That is because the nature of consciousness cannot be distinguished from its own nature. Just like space, wise people cannot speak of the traces of birds, nor can they be seen. Similarly, the sons of the Buddhas (743) cannot speak of everything, so how can they be equal?" Moreover, as it is said in the *Meaningful Explanation of the Commentary*: "Because the object of the direct realization of the path of seeing, which has been spoken of, is not different from things, the path of seeing and the path of meditation have not become other entities, therefore the characteristics of the path of meditation are not established." This is in accordance with the statement that there is no difference from the perspective of self-nature. However, if one doubts how to proceed on the grounds and paths through the practice of meditation, then for the sake of the ignorant, the grounds and paths of the characteristic vehicle and the four meditation yogas should be calculated according to the measure of the grounds and paths. This is what is believed. How to calculate it? It is said in that very treatise: "The arising of increasing realization is the path of seeing, the land of great joy. To become familiar with that very realization is the path of meditation. The path of ultimate completion is without meditation." As the direct teaching states, the arising of non-duality or union realization is the (744) path of seeing and the first ground. Becoming familiar with this is the path of meditation, from the second to the tenth ground. Non-meditation is the path of ultimate completion and the ground of Buddhahood. Although there is no direct explanation of combining it with freedom from elaboration, it seems that freedom from elaboration is considered to be the path of seeing and the first ground. If that is the case, then single-pointed concentration is the path of preparation, thrown out by implication. Jarepa said: "Although grounds and so on are not necessary for the path, if they are taught, one would like it to be like this. Offering mandalas is the path of accumulation. The arising of experience is the path of joining. Freedom from elaboration is the path of seeing. The arising of realization is the path of meditation. The single taste is the eighth ground. Non-meditation is the eleventh ground, the path of ultimate completion." Thus, starting from the preliminaries, accumulating merit, purifying obscurations, etc., are the path of accumulation. Single-pointed concentration is the path of joining. Freedom from elaboration is the path of seeing. Starting from the arising of the realization of union, the single taste and so on are the path of meditation. Non-meditation (745) small and medium are the ninth and tenth grounds, and the great is the eleventh ground, the path of ultimate completion and the path of union. Rewo Tsi

As for me, accumulating merit and so on belongs to the path of accumulation and the ground of the first practitioner. One-pointedness belongs to the path of joining and the ground of adhimukti. Freedom from elaboration belongs to the path of seeing and the first ground. One taste belongs to the second ground up to the seventh ground, and the small and medium non-meditation belong to the remaining three grounds, all of which are the path of meditation. Great non-meditation belongs to the ultimate path and the ground of Buddhahood. In some places, the four yogas are divided into thirty-two, and further divided into twenty-four based on the difference between experience and realization. The twelve yogas of experience, the four of the path of joining; the twelve yogas of realization, the three of one-pointedness belong to the three of the first ground; the three of freedom from elaboration belong to the fourth, fifth, and sixth grounds; the three of one taste belong to the seventh, eighth, and ninth grounds; the three of non-meditation belong to the tenth to twelfth grounds, and it is also said that they are combined in this way. I think that the gradual path taught in the characteristic (746) vehicle is distinguished by the qualities of appearance. Here, the sudden realization of the path of innate co-emergence of meditation is distinguished by the nature of its essence, and the two must ultimately become one. But temporarily, the forms are different. The characteristic vehicle believes that it takes three countless kalpas to attain Buddhahood, while here it is believed that if the conditions are complete, attaining Buddhahood does not require many lifetimes, which is the difference between the two. For example, even ordinary roads have different forms of highways and small roads. However, if we roughly combine the measure of the grounds and paths, from the beginning of entering the path, the three of one-pointedness belong to the path of accumulation and the ground of the first practitioner. The three of freedom from elaboration belong to the path of joining and the ground of adhimukti. The three of one taste and the small and medium non-meditation belong to the path of seeing and meditation and the first to tenth grounds. Great non-meditation (747) belongs to the ultimate path and the ground of Buddhahood, and it seems better to establish it in this way. Although the boundary between great freedom from elaboration and small one taste, and between great one taste and small non-meditation, is difficult to distinguish. But if we follow the order of the twelve yogas taught today, at the time of great freedom from elaboration, there is not even a slight realization of tasting equanimity and union. Without this, one cannot realize the meaning of dharmata as it is. Therefore, if freedom from elaboration is placed on the path of seeing and the first ground, I feel a little uneasy, so I ask the wise ones to consider it again.
