(Like an illusion, it arises from conditions, and later ceases due to conditions. Therefore, (like the horns of a bull and a rabbit, things that arise and cease) none of them are truly existent. (Then, how can) ordinary people (who cling to permanence and annihilation) understand (Madhyamaka)? Like the example of a rabbit's horn (and inference) and a bull's horn (which does not exist), how can the Dharma of the Sugatas (Madhyamaka), (eliminating the two extremes of permanence and annihilation) be established as Madhyamaka (in the minds of ordinary beings)? (Like this example of practice) Just as the images of the sun, moon, and stars are seen in the clear water of a vessel, so too is the complete (manifestation) of the nature of (Madhyamaka). Virtuous in the beginning, middle, and end, unfailing and stable, (the Dharma of Madhyamaka) if it is without self (free from permanence and annihilation) in that way, how can one cling to (it) as self or belonging to self? (Clinging to it and thinking it is mine is a mistake, therefore it is meaningless.) (The same water, because it is related to different causes and conditions, has different states) Just as in the summer, water is called warm. (The same water) in the cold season, it is called cold. (Similarly, although there is no self, the Dharmadhatu has defilements and is without defilements, appearing as sentient beings and Buddhas. Therefore, the Dharmadhatu itself, because it is not separated from other Dharmas and is separated, has different states, so when the Dharmadhatu) is covered by the net of afflictions, (the Dharmadhatu) is called sentient beings. (The Dharmadhatu) when (afflictions) are separated (from it), (the Dharmadhatu) is called Buddha. (Then, from where do we know the nature of reality? From the nature of mind and Dharmata) Relying on the eye and form, the stainless (clear light) appearance arises (for the yogi). (The mind of clear light) from the unborn and unceasing (nature) (of seeing), from the Dharmadhatu (or non-conceptual wisdom) is fully understood. (The Dharmadhatu's) relying on sound and ear, (grasper and grasped) completely pure (object and subject, self-awareness pure) three wisdoms, (conventional) the signless Dharmadhatu, (through individual) conceptual (wisdom) is heard. (The Dharmadhatu's) relying on the nose and smell, (the yogi) smells, that is an example of non-existence, similarly (the Dharmadhatu's) nose consciousness, with (discriminating wisdom) realizes the Dharmadhatu. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The tongue's own nature (of Dharmadhatu) is emptiness (by me). The realm of taste (of Dharmadhatu) is also solitary. In the essence of Dharmadhatu, Consciousness (in the essence of phenomena) has no place to dwell. The essence of the pure body (of Dharmata) (of conventional truth), And the characteristic of the condition of touch (of Dharmadhatu), Liberated from the pure conditions (of conventional truth), That (eighteen elements of ultimate reality) is said to be Dharmadhatu. To the Dharma (ultimate) which is dominated by mind (Samantabhadra), Having abandoned conceptualization and examination (with characteristics during deep Samadhi), The nature of Dharma (ultimate) is without nature. Meditate in Dharmadhatu (by exhausting all grasping) (that eighteen elements of ultimate reality). Having seen, heard, smelled, Tasted, and touched from that state of Dharmata, The yogi knows the Dharma in that way, And the characteristics of Dharmadhatu are perfected. What are the characteristics of thatness? The eye, ear, nose of ultimate reality, The tongue, body, and likewise the mind. The six sense sources are completely purified (from adventitious stains), This itself is the characteristic of thatness. Therefore, from pure and impure, the mind itself sees the two aspects of samsara and nirvana. How does it see the world (samsara) and transcendence (nirvana)? Attachment to self is samsara, If one knows individually (without self), that is nirvana. Therefore, one attains nirvana by exhausting desire through the path. Exhausting hatred and ignorance, The cessation of those (three poisons) (together with their imprints) is Buddhahood. It is the refuge (attainment) of all sentient beings. Since there is no difference between knowing (of wisdom) and not knowing (of consciousness), Everything (samsara and nirvana) arises and is complete from this very body. One is bound by one's own conceptualization (of nirvana). Having known the self-nature (self-aware wisdom) (of nirvana), one will be liberated (from conceptualization). Therefore, enlightenment (is in the mind-stream of sentient beings, so) is not far, (Buddha is oneself, so) is not near. It does not go (outside the mind-stream of sentient beings), it does not come (Buddha is oneself, so it does not come in front).
