Just as when water becomes clear, the nature of water becomes apparent, but the water itself does not disappear. Similarly, the Dharmakaya (chos kyi sku, 法身, body of dharma) also abandons the accumulation of various afflictions and sufferings, completely clears away habitual tendencies, and manifests the pure essence of Buddhahood, but it is not that it disappears. Again, for example, when the sky is obscured by smoke, clouds, dust, and mist, when these disappear, the expanse of the sky becomes clear, but the sky itself does not disappear. Similarly, the Dharmakaya is called pure because all afflictions have ceased, but the Dharmakaya itself has not disappeared. Likewise, the Dharmadhatu (chos kyi dbyings, 法界, realm of dharma) is called pure because all conceptualizations do not arise, but the true body of the Buddhas is not non-existent. And so on, it is extensively taught in the sutras. The profound Dharmakaya dwells pervading all of Samsara (’khor ba, 轮回, cyclic existence) and Nirvana (myang ‘das, 涅槃, transcendence), and having faith and knowledge of it has great benefits, while not having faith, etc., has great faults. In a sutra as rare as the Udumbara (udumWAra, 优昙婆罗花) flower, it says: Then, Angulimala (sor mo’i phreng ba, 指鬘, garland of fingers) said this to Gampopa (gang po, 岗波巴) the son of the loving mother: 'The Dharma that all the Buddhas and Shravakas (nyan thos, 声闻, hearers) have not fully attained, having awakened to it, I will teach it to sentient beings.' What is the meaning of saying this? Gampopa said: 'The past Buddhas, the Bhagavat (bcom ldan ‘das, 薄伽梵, blessed one)s, also, regarding all Dharmas, the essence of sentient beings, and the self, life, Pudgala (gang zag, 补特伽罗, person), the born, the powerful born, searched very diligently but did not find them, therefore they passed away thinking that the absence of self is the word of the Buddha.' Combining it like this, the present and future Buddhas, the Bhagavat (bcom ldan ‘das, 薄伽梵, blessed one)s, also will not find it, and will not become found. Similarly, combine it for all the Shravakas (nyan thos, 声闻, hearers) and Pratyekabuddhas (rang sangs rgyas, 独觉, solitary realizer) as well. Having said that, like this, showing the absence of life, Pudgala (gang zag, 补特伽罗, person), powerful one, powerful born, sentient being, and self, like this, showing the absence of self, like this, showing emptiness, like this, teaching such a Dharma talk. Angulimala again said this to Gampopa the son of the loving mother: 'Alas, Venerable Gampopa, you act like a bee, but you do not know how to teach the Dharma. The bee also knows how to make a buzzing sound, but you, foolish like a bee, say nothing.' Gampopa is the skillful means of the Tathagata (de bzhin gshegs pa, 如来, thus-gone). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because of not understanding the true nature, clinging to non-self as dharma is like a moth falling into the lamp of the dharma of ignorance. The so-called 'what the Buddhas have not attained' refers to the past Buddhas, the World Honored Ones, who passed away without having attained that all sentient beings are without the Tathagatagarbha (如来藏,Tathāgatagarbha, Tathāgatagarbha, Womb of the Thus-Come One). The present Buddhas, the World Honored Ones, also do not attain that all sentient beings are without the realm of self. The future Buddhas, the World Honored Ones, will also not attain that all sentient beings are without the realm of sentient beings. The Shravakas (声闻,Śrāvaka, Śrāvaka, Hearer) and Pratyekabuddhas (缘觉,Pratyekabuddha, Pratyekabuddha, Solitary Realizer) also, in the three times of past, present, and future, have not attained, will not attain, and will not attain that all sentient beings are without the Tathagatagarbha. The meaning of this verse lies in this. Furthermore, the so-called 'what all the Buddhas have not attained' refers to the past Buddhas, the World Honored Ones, who, even if diligently searching for all dharmas, have not found what worldly people believe to be, such as the size of a thumb, a mustard seed, rice, a rapeseed, a sesame seed, red, blue, yellow, white, or short, long, extremely long, burning in the heart. From '...' to 'those constant, firm, and permanent selves are like this.' All the Buddhas and Shravakas have not attained these, and then they attain Bodhi and proclaim it to sentient beings. The meaning of this verse lies in this. Those heretical views and inverted discriminations are not the meaning of this. The so-called 'what the Buddhas have not attained' refers to the past Buddhas, the World Honored Ones, who passed away without having attained the accomplished Tathagatagarbha. The unaccomplished Buddha realm, endowed with immeasurable excellent marks and characteristics, exists in the hearts of all sentient beings. The present Buddhas, the World Honored Ones, even if diligently searching, have not found the accomplished Tathagatagarbha. The unaccomplished immeasurable Buddha nature realm, endowed with excellent marks and characteristics, exists in the hearts of all sentient beings. The Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas of the three times, like bees, hear that there is a Tathagatagarbha, but cannot see it with their own eyes. This question has already clarified the reason for the question. For example, Rāhula (罗睺罗,Rāhula, Rāhula, Fetter), who upholds the precepts strictly, observes the water with living beings very carefully, wanting to distinguish whether there are living beings in it, or just dust. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
