For example, if one meditates on oneself as a tiger, everyone sees a tiger, everyone runs away, and the city becomes empty. Even a little familiarity can cause such a change. How could the habitual imprints from beginningless time not appear? They will definitely appear. After establishing this, if one thinks that there is nothing that is not pervaded by the mind, then is it truly pervaded by the mind, or is the general meaning truly present in the mind, or is it merely the appearance of mind only, which is the pervasion of mind-only? If asked in this way, if one thinks it belongs to the first case, then the general meaning is not the real mind, because it does not follow the presence or absence of the mind. Moreover, the mixing of object and mind is unreasonable. The mind is inside, and the object is outside, so the positions are confused, which is unreasonable. The mind is knowing, and the object is matter, etc., so the dharmas are contradictory, which is also unreasonable. The mind would become the seeing and hearing of the senses, or the object would become seeing and hearing, which is impossible. And so on, it is inconceivable. It seems that even the great teachers attach great importance to this, but it can be affirmed that it is a great darkness of wrong views. As it says in "Self-Appearance": Appearance is the yoga of the mind, everything arises from my mind, if one can realize the nature of mind, what is there to do? Those who constantly say this, I have not said that they are liberated. And as it says in "Samantabhadra's Mirror of the Heart": To think that appearance is mind is an obstacle to me. Thus. If one thinks that it contradicts what was said earlier that appearance is mind, it is not so. Just as blurred vision appears in the sky, due to the confusion of the mind, all the dharmas of samsara that appear are only the empty essence of non-existent appearance. Like the image of various habitual imprints in the mind, or appearing in the appearance of the mind. It is not one with the mind, so it can be abandoned. It is not other than the mind, it arises from the confusion of the mind. For example, blurred vision is not one with eye consciousness, so it can be abandoned, and it is not other than it, because the self-characteristic of the object is not established. So, is it the pervasion of mind-only, or is it the appearance created by the realization of the mind? Therefore, if one knows that the creator of everything is the mind, then, like the appearance of the container, contents, and enjoyment, all the aspects of appearance arise from the defiled habitual imprints of the mind's grasping and being grasped, appearing as non-existent. Realizing this, one can transcend the lower levels of mind-only.

It is necessary to know that the view has been realized. The second is, the self-display of mind... until the word "need". After such determination, the habits of mind, merely arising from self-display or self-power, outwardly appear as red and white realms, and inwardly, the collection of names represented by thoughts of happiness and suffering, as well as discriminations of yes and no, hopes and fears, prohibitions and accomplishments, etc., if one knows that all these are self-appearances without inherent existence, then, from the clinging to objects, the bondage of mind is released, and realizing the meaning of the unobstructed great emptiness is what is needed. Secondly, to introduce the mind as without attachment and beyond names, and to restrain and gather it on the basis of experiential habit, from "Again, whatever appearance..." to "Is it?" Again, focusing the power of awareness on one appearance, staring intently at it, and for the thoughts of the three times of past, future, and present, without welcoming or cutting off, without abandoning, taking, or modifying, but releasing it loosely. The self-nature appearance is not stopped, so it is clear. The essence is without establishment, so it is empty. While being empty, when the appearance arises even more clearly, is the one who names forms and other objects as things, clinging to meaning, and thinking that it is real, is that knower the mind? Or, does it grasp this here, this object, mind, name, meaning, thing as "this"? Does the mind grasp the characteristics and appearance of this object as "like this"? (Among these two interpretations, the one with more accurate wording is retained. Note.) If it is like the first interpretation, the word "manner" seems incorrect. If it is like the second interpretation, it is somewhat inconsistent with the previous selective interrogative sentence "Is it the mind?", so it needs to be examined. When examining in this way, the knower is the mind. If one thinks that the self-characteristic, common characteristic, and functional mode of the object are "like this", then, between the object and awareness, is the form and color of the namer—the mind—established or not established? Observe as before. However, if one thinks that the object and consciousness are different, and naming arises due to the power of dependent origination, that is also not the case. Because the encounter of meaning, appearance, and consciousness is not established, as has been said before. Are all these named things ultimately permanent or impermanent? Thus, they are made to observe well. In short, because the meaning being examined is not established, the name is like the son of a barren woman, and the name itself has no self-characteristic. From the perspective of the change of names, a knife cuts, and the cut becomes a needle.
