Body, speech is important for recitation, mind is important for meditation. At the time of fruition, there is no distinction of importance among the three vajras. If you think like this, it seems that there is no difference temporarily. But if you observe carefully, apart from this body of flesh and blood, the mind-body of the bardo, the body of experiencing hell, the luminous body of the form realm, the body of formless concentration, and so on, and the body of dream imprints are all made by the mind. Not only does it appear to speech and mind, but also appears as their object. All that appears as body and mind is a dreamlike appearance from the imprints of the mind. Similarly, the present body and mind are also appearances of imprints, like a haze in the sky. Moreover, from beginningless samsara, what is the cause that initiates, what is the fruit that receives, what is it that wanders in samsara like the turning of a waterwheel? If you observe, you will know that the mind is the main thing, just like recognizing a thief. Therefore, thoroughly cut off this view through observation and analysis, repeatedly contemplate and determine, so that doubts can be eliminated. As it is said in the tantra of Longchen Rabjampa: "From the three, body, speech, and mind, grasp which is the main one." Second, searching for similarities: From this body to the placement. Also, apart from this present body, is the mind at the time of obtaining many previous bodies and the present mind the same or different? If they are the same, then their happiness and suffering should also be experienced manifestly now, or like the previous mind, the present mind should also become obscured, or they should be confused with each other, or the mind without arising and ceasing should become permanent, or everything should become a whole. If they are different, then the present birth and happiness and suffering will have no cause, and the previous karma will be wasted without an experiencer, and so on, which are all unreasonable. Moreover, the present mind itself, is it the same or different, if observed. If it is the same, then the nature of the eight consciousnesses, the fifty-one mental factors, the eighty-four thousand conceptual thoughts, these are all irrational. Even with conceptualization, it does not conform to the continuity of conceptual thoughts. Or, the terms of previous and subsequent thoughts will be confused, and the whole will become real. If they are different, then the sign of memory is not allowed, and it will become different like the dharma that depends on love and closeness. The former will die without cause, and the latter will also be born without cause.

It would follow that it is not the mental continuum of a single person, just as a hundred beads of a rosary are of the same kind but not of the same essence. However, if you think that it is only the conceptualizations that are different, but the mind is the same, then at the end of the elimination of conceptualizations, that mind that is the remaining basis of those, should exist like an ox left behind after the horses have been driven away, but since it is not seen, it is eliminated. Also, are the minds of sentient beings in the three realms of samsara and your own mind the same or different? If they are the same, then if one is liberated, all are liberated, and if one dies, all die, and so on, there would be many faults. Why are there so many different sentient beings, internal and external? If they are not the same, then it would follow that everyone would not have the same doubts about death, and it would not be pervasive that one is happy when one is happy and happy when one's enemy is defeated, etc., even though they are of the same kind. Even if one person dies, all the worms should still be alive, so what distinguishes these differences? When asked what is the difference and appearance of different minds for many different bodies, one is speechless, unable to remember, realize, or speak, separated from the characteristics of recognition, and stunned into non-birth. Without the confusion of conceptualization, awareness is clear and bright. Without removing, establishing, changing, or fabricating, it goes on naturally and freely. At that time, the key to the nature of the ground's self-abiding, free from elaboration, is pointed out, adorned with ornaments of what is pleasing to the mind, tolerable, and reasonable, and with scriptural and logical proofs. Third, there is examining the place of origin, examining the manner of origin, examining the one who originates, and pointing out the self-nature of the Dharmakaya. First, from "after that" to "parents." The so-called mind, this clear, vivid, and lively conceptualization that experiences happiness and suffering, experiences objects, and the one who knows, this unconstrained, existing thing, from which aspect does it arise? It does not arise from non-existence, just as a rabbit's horn does not grow. However, if you think that it can only arise from existence, then from which realm of the external four elements, when did it arise? Also examine from which parents of another sentient being's mind it was born and arose. Even if you don't remember it, you think it must exist, then if the mind has a cause, it is conditioned, impermanent, and therefore it will perish. If that is the case, then there will be no good or bad in karma. If you think there is no cause, then it will be like a flower in the sky, without a cause there will be no result. The mind arises from itself.
