It is established as two uncertainties. Now, this is the actual presentation of how the bardo appears or manifests: the birth-place bardo, the death-moment bardo, the dharmata bardo, the existence bardo, and the dream and meditation bardos, the ways these six bardos appear. Generally, the basis for the appearance of these six is holding onto the three: essence, nature, and compassion. The way they appear is: appearing as existent when non-existent, appearing like an illusion; grasping as existent when non-existent, like mistaking a scarecrow for a person; grasping as true when untrue, like a dream; grasping as one when not one, like a river's flow; grasping as certain when uncertain, like different perceptions of the elements. Samaya! (藏文:ས་མ་ཡཱ།) Generally, it is the appearance of the three realms; necessarily, it is the appearance of the individual's own face; especially, the distinctions of the bardo's own appearance, each one is not singular, but unimaginably diverse. Samaya! (藏文:ས་མ་ཡཱ།) The first bardo, the birth-place bardo, in any of the three realms, the five skandhas' five bodies are obscured in a reversed manner; the elements and sense bases obscure light and color; karma and afflictions obscure wisdom and dharmata, and due to the power of attachment to appearances, one is bound in samsara, drifting in the flood of the four perversions, indulging in habitual tendencies, karma, and afflictions. If one measures the nature of wisdom from the perspective of the state of abiding, and the way of abiding in the shell of afflictions, especially, in the heart abides the essence body; nature abides in light; compassion abides in a drop of light; cognitions abide in the vajra mandala; generally, the five skandhas abide as the five bodies; the five elements abide as the five mothers; the lineage abides as bodhicitta; the body's four dharmas, the door-father and door-mother abide, and these transform and abide as buddhas in the mandala of the blood-drinkers. Now, on the crown of the head abides the body of rays; in the heart abides the essence body; from the channels, countless drops of red and white, the dakas and dakinis, fathers and mothers, abide in an inconceivable manner; the crown of the head is the body; the throat is speech; the heart is mind; the navel is qualities; the secret place is action, the ways these five chakras abide, from the true teachings, to view them as purification and ripening fruit, is to grasp onto the delusion of the place of compassion, one must know that this is far from the Hinayana's lotus thought. This is the way of abiding in nirvana. Do not be dissatisfied with it.

The way beings perceive things: The five great consorts appear as the realm gathered by the external environment; the three bodies appear as the realm that gathers the mind; the five bodies, defiled by concepts, appear as the aggregates; the self-nature of wisdom that exhausts them appears as the five aggregates of non-conceptuality; the enlightened father and mother appear as realms and sources; the four gatekeepers appear as the realm of touch and the consciousness of objects; the hero father and mother appear as eighty-four thousand conceptual gatherings; the fifty-eight blood drinkers appear as fifty conceptual gatherings; the five wisdoms appear as the five poisons; the five families appear as the five races; the four immeasurables appear as the four directions, and so on, appearing as delusions. Furthermore, the three wisdoms of the ground appear as the three ignorances; the two wisdoms that pervade objects appear as the nature of conceptual judgment that grasps existence and non-existence. Secondly, in detail: the body, in the coarse realm of desire, such as gods and humans, has a physical form of definite size, with the nature of flesh, blood, and the four elements; in hell, there is a body of suffering that experiences awareness; in the realm of form, there is a body of samadhi, emptiness, clarity, awareness, and mind. Speech, in the realm of desire, is coarse; in other realms, it is subtle, existing only as imprints. Mind: in the realm of desire, there are mind, intellect, and consciousness; in the other two realms, from that, the six aggregates gradually become thinner as they progress upward from the coarse side. Place: except for the four co-emergent places in the realm of desire, all depend on the earth. The differences in places: hell is burning iron and fire; hungry ghosts are miserable or eerie; animals are drowning in the ocean; asuras are empty and dark; gods have excellent merit; the human realm, the four continents, hundreds of thousands, depends on a part of the earth's surface. Friends are those who awaken with similar imprints. The way things appear: hell appears as the delusion of hot and cold suffering; hungry ghosts appear as the perception of hunger, thirst, and inverted thoughts; animals appear as the suffering of foolishness, dumbness, exploitation, and eating each other; asuras appear as unbearable defeat, victory, joy, sorrow, jealousy; gods appear as the danger of happiness, change, and decline; humans appear as the delusion of mixed and various eleven sufferings. The details are clear in the outer preliminary practices. Everything mostly appears as object and subject. Furthermore, the way actions arise: mostly in the realm of desire, there are various kinds; in the upper realms, there is samadhi.
