Because of clinging to the syllable "ra," the four elements are manifested. (From somewhere.) Also, in the 'Longchen Rabjam' (ཀློང་ཆེན་རབ་འབྱམས, meaning Vast Expanse), it says: The colors of the five wisdoms are the five elements; originally, they are the very nature of wisdom. Without separation, due to ignorance, in the five-colored light clusters, through analytical observation, they are mistaken for the five elements. It also says: The pure, primordial mirror wisdom, through analytical observation, is mistaken for water. And so on, these are all about the ways of illusion, the results of which will be explained below. Furthermore, from that very source, it says: Relying on that, if the ways of illusion of the inner essence are distinguished, they are like this. The basis of illusion arises from the five wisdoms. Understanding these meanings, taking space as the foundation, turning to the views of non-Buddhists who regard the elements as the cause, this is contradicting one's own root Dharma, being narrow-minded towards the great Dharma, and slandering the statement that "merely not abandoning space is sufficient." This reveals their inner state of not having ascertained either the object as the manifestation of clear light or the method as the increasing of meditative stabilization. Second, from that, explaining the ways of illusion: generally explaining the ways of illusion from the six kinds of ignorance, and then elaborating in detail through the causes, conditions, and the reality of illusion. First, in the 'Longchen Gasal' (ཀློང་གསལ་, meaning Clear Expanse), it says: This illusion also arises from the six kinds of ignorance. Because of not recognizing the primordial self-nature, mind arises from the play of the six kinds of ignorance, and from the adornment of mind, intention arises, thus being mistaken for the impure threefold structure. First, the causes and conditions of illusion are the six kinds of ignorance: the root is the ignorance of mind, which is the co-emergent ignorance that possesses the same nature and pervades everything, which is real. Because of not recognizing the self-nature of awareness, arrogance arises as mind. The object of illusion is the ignorance of the object: the light channel arising from the blessing of the youthful vase body of awareness, not recognizing that it is the non-dual self-appearance, without inherent existence, and clinging to the object as independently existing, thus forming the Sahā world. The basis of illusion is the fundamental ignorance: due to the clinging of the four conditions, the basis or mind itself is impure, like the ignorance of mistaking a stump for a person, causing afflictions to become coarse. Clinging to conceptualization is ignorance: the movement of the six consciousnesses obscures the inconceivable wisdom, preventing it from manifesting. Due to the ignorance of unknowing, not recognizing that self-appearance is light, thus repeatedly wandering in samsara. Therefore, the six kinds of ignorance obscure one's own manifestation.

Confusion arises from mistaken acceptance and rejection due to habitual tendencies. The Self-Arisen Tantra states: Ignorance is also like this: the root is the ignorance of mind, confusion is the ignorance of objects, the basis of confusion is the ignorance of the ground, grasping is the ignorance of thought, fabrication is the ignorance of the path, and not knowing is the ignorance of delusion. Thus, ignorance arises in six forms, and one does not see one's own appearances. It also says: From the play of ignorance, mind arises; from the adornment of mind, intention arises. Secondly, in explaining in detail from the parts of cause and condition, the first of the three that explain cause, condition, and the actual confusion arising from them is: cause is made by the three ignorances. The Prasangika states: The cause of confusion is ignorance, and ignorance is of three types. Thus, although the vidyadharas have created according to the words of each individual lineage, I believe that the essence of emptiness, the wisdom of primordial purity, not knowing the great selflessness of one's own nature, therefore the cause is the ignorance of self-identity, the root of existence, subtly clinging to self; if there is self, then it arises simultaneously with it, like the other mountain in relation to this mountain, the spontaneously present clarity of the nature of the ground, being deluded about dharma or objects and thinking of others, the subtle transformation of intention also arises, therefore it is coemergent ignorance; after there is thought of these two, separately naming and grasping meaning, seeing things as objects, it becomes a part of complete imputation, which is the ignorance of complete imputation; these three are the cause of action in samsara, just as the confusion of eye consciousness is the cause of double moons and cataracts. The Prasangika states: By self-identity, the root of confusion is made; coemergent thoughts are two; by complete imputation, it becomes an object. Also, Longchen Rabjam states: That is also three, completely imputed, coemergent, and self-clinging; the cause of all is one. Also, Longchen Clear Space states: Cause and condition are two gatherings; cause and condition are of three types. That is, self-identity, self-clinging, coemergent, other-clinging, complete imputation, there are three thoughts; the wisdom of the compassion of the lord is the other condition, ignorance is the condition, the light of the object and the part of the consciousness thought are two conditions. These words and the way of establishing from the Seventeen Tantras should not be seen as directly contradictory, because the meaning of the tantras is ultimately
