As it is said, "The four, and measure, and confidence," the signs appear in the three doors, the measure is held by dreams, and the confidence is obtained in seeing, there are three. As it says in that very text, "Measure arises from dreams, signs appear in body, speech, and mind." And as it says in the 'Extensive Sutra,' "Measure is holding dreams, the three of body, speech, and mind hold signs and measure." First, there are two types of signs: signs with change and interruption, and signs of unchanging meaning. The first has three types: the signs of deceiving demons, the signs of experiencing the view of dakinis, and the signs of appearance and sensation, as explained well in 'The Clear Meaning of Dharmata,' including the methods of cutting off the demons arising from view, meditation, practice, and experience. Second, the signs of unchanging meaning are divided into general and specific explanations. Generally, after realizing the view, the signs of taking it into experience through meditation and walking on the true path are: the ten signs of not being harmed by the elements, etc., which are signs of the body; in speech, because truth is established, whatever is said benefits others; the knots of the throat veins are released, and Dharma words arise spontaneously; in the mind, samadhi is continuous, like a stream of water; the wisdom of emptiness and compassion being inseparable, each burns in the four correct views; blessings and empowerments of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are obtained; and freedom is gained over wind and mind, so that one is no longer controlled by afflictions, and so on. Secondly, specifically, the individual signs of the manifestation of the four visions are: the power of the four empowerments entering the three doors, and the qualities of the purity of the essence of the three vajras of the four bodies, body, speech, and mind, have small, medium, large, and supreme stages, with twelve signs in total. That is, at the time of the direct perception of dharmata, the sinful actions and activities of the body that correspond to the qualities of the body, speech, and mind of the great Tushita Buddha are no longer dwelling, like a turtle placed in a container, speech does not dwell on speaking, like a mute, and the mind does not wander, but stays focused, like a bird caught by a rope. The source of these is in the 'Extensive Sutra of Explanatory Tantras,' which says: At the time of the manifestation of the direct perception of dharmata, the body is like a turtle in a container, the speech is like a mute who does not want to speak, and the mind does not wander anywhere.
