And the eight classes of beings. Having sent them, I will always protect the one who holds the dharani. It completely eliminates obstacles. If one is in a ravine and loses their way, reciting this mantra, by its power, benevolent gods and dragon kings will manifest as benevolent human forms and show the correct path. If one is in mountains, forests, and monasteries and lacks water and fire, the dragon kings will manifest water and fire to fully protect them. The Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, for the sake of those who recite and fully uphold this dharani, and to completely eliminate harm and obstacles, spoke these very cooling verses. Whoever goes to mountains, pastures, or monasteries, and encounters tigers, wolves, fierce beasts, centipedes, snakes, and demons, if they hear this dharani, they cannot cause harm. Whoever enters rivers or oceans, and encounters vicious dragons, cruel crocodiles, yakshas, rakshasas, fish, and turtles, if they hear this dharani, they will scatter separately. Whoever is surrounded by enemies on the battlefield, or when robbers and evil people seize wealth, if they single-mindedly recite the Great Compassion Dharani, they will generate compassion and retreat. Whoever is caught in a king's lawsuit, or when bound by iron chains and confined in prison, if they single-mindedly recite the Great Compassion Dharani, the king will release them with compassion. Whoever is cursed, shot with poisoned arrows into their house, or poisoned by toxic food and drink, if they single-mindedly recite the Great Compassion Dharani, the poison will become nectar, and the food and drink will become refreshing. When a pregnant woman is giving birth, and is obstructed by demons, suffering unbearable pain, if they single-mindedly recite the Great Compassion Dharani, the demons will flee, and they will give birth safely.
