Having gone to where the manifested Buddha Shakyamuni was, circumambulated the Bhagavan (Blessed One) three times, and sat down before the Buddha. The great Bodhisattva Mahasattva Jewel Heart requested the Bhagavan (Blessed One), saying: Bhagavan (Blessed One), for the sake of compassion for all sentient beings, please reveal this extremely sublime secret—the Great Jewel Extensive Palace. Then, the Bhagavan (Blessed One) Tathagata Shakyamuni understood the request and ordered the Secret Lord Vajrapani: Secret Lord, go and strike the ground with the vajra in the middle of this large assembly. Then, the Secret Lord Vajrapani, having heard the command of the Bhagavan (Blessed One), arrived at the center of the great mandala of the assembly, struck the ground with the vajra, and as soon as he struck, a square ground appeared there. This world of the three thousand great thousand worlds also shook in six ways. As soon as it shook, a square pavilion made of seven jewels appeared in that place, with four pillars, four doors, level, pleasing, very exquisite, ornately decorated, radiant, pleasing to the eye, blazing with light, with four steps, three yojanas high and five yojanas wide. In the center of the pavilion, a stupa made of Jambudvipa gold appeared, adorned with countless jewels and precious gem nets, covered with a net of tinkling bells made of seven jewels, hung with countless bells, decorated with countless silk streamers, and adorned with countless flower garlands. Generosity, Gandharvas, Asuras, Garudas, Kinnaras, Mahoragas, humans, and many non-human retinues were amazed and astonished. They became joyful and made loud noises and creaking sounds, saying, 'Why did this multi-storied building and stupa appear?' They circumambulated the stupa and the multi-storied building, made offerings, revered them, and offered flowers, incense, perfumes, garlands, unguents, various musical instruments, and drums. All those Bodhisattvas and all the mandalas of the retinues also sat with their palms joined and prostrated. Then, a sound came from that multi-storied building: 'Hey! Look, look at what appears to the many pure retinues!' Then, all the assembled retinues looked into the sky. As soon as they looked, a great mass of clouds arose from Vaidurya and great precious jewels. Then, on top of the mass of clouds, they saw this dharani called 'The Secret of the Great Jewel Expanse, the Extremely Well-Abiding Mansion,' written in golden letters. A sound came from the center of the sky: 'Please recite the dharani called 'The Secret of the Great Jewel Expanse, the Extremely Well-Abiding Mansion' by all the Buddhas, the Bhagavat Tathagatas.' As soon as the sound arose, writings appeared on the mass of clouds before each of the Tathagatas, and they also proclaimed this sound: 'Homage to the Bhagavat Shakyamuni! Homage to the Bhagavat Shakyamuni! Open this supreme stupa!' In the center of that stupa reside the bodies of the three Tathagatas. By their power, this great and extraordinary display of miraculous transformation appears, and solely by their power, the miraculous transformations of all the Tathagatas also appear. The mandala of the secret dharani of the Great Jewel Expanse, the Extremely Well-Abiding Mansion, along with the rituals, mantras, and the implements of the detailed rituals, will all be perfectly and excellently explained in the center of the retinue in a complete and flourishing manner.'
