When agate turns into the color of a conch shell, and palm seeds form on the jambu tree, and the illusion of mangoes arises on the pomegranate tree, then relics the size of mustard seeds will become visible. Whenever turtle hair is well woven into clothing, capable of dispelling the winter cold, then relics will exist. Whenever a pavilion is well constructed from the legs of bees, stable and utterly unmoving, then relics will exist. Whenever silkworms and lotuses all grow white teeth, sharp and becoming large, then relics will exist. For the sake of ascending to the heavens, whenever a ladder is well made from rabbit horns, then relics will exist. Whenever one ascends that ladder, and mice eat the moon, and also harm Rahu, then relics will exist. Whenever bees wandering in the village drink wine from earthenware pots, and dwell in homes, then relics will exist. Whenever a donkey becomes happy, its lips become like red bimba fruit, and it becomes skilled in song and dance, then relics will exist. Whenever owls and crows play from holes in secluded places, and become harmonious with each other, then relics will exist. Whenever the leaves of the palasha tree become umbrellas of three jewels, and become shelter from falling rain, then relics will exist. Whenever a great ship of the ocean, complete with wheels and sails, appears on land and travels, then relics will exist. Whenever a bird, an owl, carries a mountain fragrant with incense in its beak, then relics will exist. Having heard these verses from the Brahmin Kaundinya, the teacher who prophesies, the Licchavi youth, who is pleasing to see by all the world, replied again with these verses: Excellent! Excellent! Supreme youth, son of the Victorious One, great in speech, brave and skilled in means, you have obtained the sacred prophecy. Listen to me, youth, according to the inconceivable order of the World Protector, the Savior, the Great Thus-Gone-One. The Buddha land.

is inconceivable. The Tathagatas are unequaled. All Buddhas are always peaceful. All Buddhas arise correctly. All Buddhas have the same color. This is the nature of the Buddha Dharma. The Bhagavan is not artificial. The Tathagata is unborn. A body as firm as a vajra. The manifested body is shown. The relics of the great sage. There is not even one the size of a mustard seed. If there are no bones or blood in the body. How can there be relics? For the benefit of sentient beings. Relics are established by skillful means. The Dharmakaya of the perfect Buddha. The Dharmadhatu of the Tathagata. How is the Dharma taught? The body of the Bhagavan is like that. After I heard and knew this. I prayed to the holy ones. For the sake of that one prophecy alone. The speech was made by me. Then, after thirty-two thousand sons of the gods heard such a profound exposition of the measure of the life of the Tathagata, they all generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. They rejoiced greatly, contemplating with their minds, and spoke these verses in one voice. The Buddha will never pass into sorrow. The Dharma will not perish either. For the sake of fully maturing sentient beings. He shows passing into complete nirvana. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, is inconceivable. The eternal body of the Tathagata. For the benefit of sentient beings. He shows various arrangements. Then, the Bodhisattva Adornment Top, having heard the exposition of the measure of the life of the Bhagavan Shakyamuni from those Buddhas, the Bhagavans, and those two holy beings, was satisfied, content, pleased, and rejoiced greatly, and joy and peace of mind arose, and he was pervaded by great joy and satisfaction. At the time of explaining this exposition of the measure of the life of the Tathagata, immeasurable and countless sentient beings generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. Those Tathagatas also disappeared. From the King of the Sublime Golden Light Sutra, the chapter called "The Exposition of the Measure of the Life of the Tathagata" is the second. Then the Bodhisattva Adornment Top was overcome by sleep.
