If these secret mantras are inserted, it is like building ninety-nine thousand stupas of the seven precious substances. Furthermore, whoever circumambulates this stupa, or prostrates, or joins their palms, or offers flowers, or anoints with perfume, or burns incense, or offers bells, or banners, or offers some umbrellas, it is equal to the merit of offering to ninety-nine thousand Tathagata stupas. All roots of virtue will be perfected, and great glory and power will be obtained. Even if birds and bees, etc., are touched by the shadow of the stupa, the Tathagata will know and remember them. They will attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and will abide in the irreversible ground. Furthermore, whoever dreams of such a stupa in a dream, or sees it from afar, or hears the sound of bells, or hears the words of building a stupa, those people, including those who have committed the five heinous crimes, all sins and obscurations will be purified. They will always be protected and remembered by the Tathagatas, and they will obtain the completely pure path of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. This secret mantra is called the secret mantra of the life-force of the stupa. The scent of sandalwood, camphor, musk, saffron, and so on, or the fragrant scent of heavenly incense, will arise. I and others who work on stupas and recite mantras, all those wishes will be fulfilled as desired. Great roots of virtue will be accumulated, and qualities and perfect goodness will also be obtained. Even if there is a karmic result of short life, life will be prolonged. When the time of death comes, one will see the faces of ninety-nine billion trillion Buddhas, and those Tathagatas will remember him. In the next life, he will be born in a pure Buddha-field and will receive a prophecy. There, he will live for a billion trillion years, remembering his past lives, obtaining the divine eye and pure divine ear, knowing the minds of others, and knowing death and birth. The body will emit the scent of sandalwood, and the mouth will emit the fragrance of lotus flowers. Having attained the path of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, one will also attain the irreversible stage. Furthermore, even if there is only a mustard seed's worth of scented oil, if one recites the mantra and applies it to the stupa, one will obtain the qualities and benefits as previously mentioned. Also, any bhikkhu, bhikkhuni, upasaka, or upasika who keeps himself pure and takes these mantras with the understanding that they are rare and precious should be trusted as if they were the Tathagata. One should generate respect for the mantras and write them down. As mentioned above, write the mantras and mudras according to the ritual, and then insert the essence into the base of the stupa's life-tree. If one builds a stupa, then he will accumulate great roots of virtue and will obtain all qualities and benefits. Then, when the Bhagavan spoke these rituals of the mudras of mantras, all the Tathagatas residing in the ten directions of the world rejoiced and said: The perfectly complete Buddha Shakyamuni is equal to all sentient beings.
