They became joyful and made loud noises and clamor, saying, "Why did this multi-storied building and stupa appear?" They circumambulated the stupa and the multi-storied building, made offerings, and played. They made offerings with flowers and, incense and, fragrances and, garlands and, unguents and, various musical instruments and, percussion instruments. All those Bodhisattvas and, all the retinue mandalas also, sat with their palms joined and prostrated. Then a sound came from the multi-storied building: "O, numerous retinues, look, look at what appears in the sky!" Then, all those numerous retinues who had gathered looked at the sky, and as soon as they looked, a great mass of clouds arose from lapis lazuli and great precious jewels. Then, on top of the mass of clouds, they saw this dharani called "Secret, the Great Jewel-Expanding Palace, Extremely Well-Established," written in golden letters. A sound came from the center of the sky: "All Buddhas, Bhagavat, please recite, please recite the dharani called 'Secret, the Great Jewel-Expanding Palace, Extremely Well-Established'!" All those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, spoke thus to the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, Shakyamuni Buddha: "O Bhagavat, please open and reveal the occasions for teaching those Tathagatas, Arhats, Samyaksambuddhas, Jewel King Flower Banner, Jewel Radiantly Shining, and Vajra Supreme King, who reside in this precious stupa here and there." Then, the Bhagavat, the Tathagata Shakyamuni, through the great miracle of magical display, went to where the storied stupa was, and extended his right hand, golden in color, adorned with the marks of a hundred merits, and opened the door of that supreme stupa, revealing the bodies of the Tathagatas. Then, those Tathagatas gave praise to the Tathagata Shakyamuni, saying: "Shakyamuni, well done! Well done! Today, you have turned the second wheel of Dharma in Jambudvipa. O Bhagavat, please sit on this very lion throne." Then, the Tathagata Shakyamuni sat on that very throne inside the stupa. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Vajrapani said this to the Bhagavat: "O Bhagavat, why have these Tathagatas come into the storied stupa, and from where have they departed?" In order to liberate all sentient beings, one should think like this: I must attain the supreme and perfect enlightenment of Buddhahood, and single-mindedly remember the Buddha, remember the Dharma, and remember the Sangha. Then, those hermits thought like this for a moment, and then became silent and contemplated in their hearts. They attained the samadhi called "Loving-kindness that makes all sentient beings rejoice, a radiant palace." Having developed the divine eye, they looked upwards and saw the sons of the Pure Abodes Devas making sounds in the sky: "Excellent! Excellent! Noble beings, it is excellent that you have generated the mind for unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment! O noble beings, merely hearing about this vast palace of great jewels, which is extremely sublime and secret, and which the Tathagatas of the past proclaimed for the benefit of all sentient beings, one will never regress from it, until one attains unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. All dharmas will manifest, all doors of dharanis will manifest, one will conquer all demons, one will light the lamp of all dharmas, all roots of virtue will manifest, the six paramitas will be perfected, and one will be completely liberated from hells, the animal realm, the realm of Yama, the realm of pretas, and the laws of the asuras. Having obtained complete liberation from birth, old age, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and strife, in future lives and future times, in this Jambudvipa, those sentient beings who do not uphold precepts, do not observe fasts, are not shramanas, are not brahmins, do not practice virtue, abandon the true Dharma, slander the noble ones, are immersed in Avici hell, deceive Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, kill Arhats, commit the five heinous crimes, kill brahmins, kill cows, are thieves, are deceitful, wait for gambling opportunities, lie, and take what is not given.
