Therefore, sons or daughters of faith should pray to be born in that Buddha-field. Furthermore, the Blessed One addressed Manjushri, the youthful one, saying: "Manjushri, there are beings who do not know what is virtuous and non-virtuous. They are overcome by the power of attachment, and do not know about giving and the ripening of the fruits of giving. They are children, fools, lacking the faculty of faith, hoarding wealth, and diligently guarding it. Their minds do not incline towards giving properly. When the time for giving is near, they become unhappy, as if a piece of flesh were being cut from their own bodies. Those beings, even if they do not fully enjoy things themselves, what need is there to mention that they do not give to their parents, wives, sons, and daughters? What need is there to mention slaves, servants, and laborers? What need is there to mention beggars? Such beings, after dying from here, will be born in the world of pretas, or they will be born in the realm of animals. Among them, if there were those who had previously been humans, and who had heard the name of the Blessed One, the Tathagata Medicine Guru, the light of lapis lazuli, whether they dwell in the world of Yama or in the realm of animals, there, the name of that Tathagata will appear, and as soon as they remember it, they will die from there and be reborn in the human world, and they will remember their past lives. Fearing the terrors of the lower realms, they will not seek sensual pleasures, and they will delight in giving, praise the virtues of giving, and completely give away all their possessions. Gradually, they will even give their own heads, hands, feet, eyes, flesh, and blood to those who ask for them. What need is there to mention other heaps of wealth? Manjushri, furthermore, there are beings who destroy the places of learning established by the Tathagatas. They wrongly enter into discipline and wrongly enter into views. Those who possess discipline only guard their discipline and do not seek extensive learning. The Tathagata has said

They do not understand the profound meaning of the sutras. Those who have heard much become exceedingly arrogant. Oppressed by arrogance, they become jealous of others, encroach upon the sacred Dharma, and eventually abandon it. Such foolish people are allies of the demons. They themselves enter the wrong path, and cause countless billions of other beings to fall into a great abyss. Such beings will go to unbearable hells. Those who, in their previous lives as humans, have heard the name of the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Medicine Master, the Lapis Lazuli Light, even if they are in hell, by the power of the Buddha, the name of that Tathagata will appear. Having died and transmigrated from there, they will again be born into the human world. They will have right views, be diligent, and have virtuous thoughts. They will renounce their homes, become monks in the teachings of that Tathagata, and eventually practice the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Manjushri, furthermore, some beings praise me, but out of jealousy speak ill of others. Those beings who praise themselves and slander others will experience suffering in the three evil realms for many thousands of years. After many thousands of years have passed, having died and transmigrated from there, they will be born as animals such as cows, horses, mules, and donkeys. They will be beaten with whips and sticks, their bodies afflicted by hunger and thirst, and they will carry heavy loads on the road. Even if they are fortunate enough to obtain a human birth in a hundred lifetimes, they will always be born into the lowest castes. They will become slaves and be subject to the power of others. Those who, in their previous lives as humans, have heard the name of the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Medicine Master, the Lapis Lazuli Light, by that root of virtue, will be completely liberated from all suffering. Their faculties will become sharp. They will become wise, clear, mindful, and diligently strive to seek all virtue, and will always be able to find virtuous spiritual friends.

Ra. It can cut the snare of demons, break the shell of ignorance, and dry up the river of afflictions. It will be completely liberated from birth, old age, death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, discomfort, and confusion. Manjushri, furthermore, some sentient beings are particularly fond of gossiping, and some sentient beings cause each other to fight, argue, and compete. Those sentient beings become argumentative, and with body, speech, and mind, they manifestly accumulate various kinds of non-virtue. They desire no benefit for each other, and they constantly strive to harm each other. They invoke the gods of the forest, the gods of the trees, and the gods of the mountains. In the cemeteries, they invoke various different spirits. They kill the lives of sentient beings who have been born into the animal realm, and they worship yakshas and rakshasas who eat meat and drink blood. They recite the name of that enemy, or create an image, and there they practice fierce mantras. Through curses and the union of zombies, they want to create obstacles to life and completely destroy the body. If anyone hears the name of the Bhagavan Tathagata Medicine Guru, King of Lapis Lazuli Light, then no one will be able to create obstacles for them. They will abide in a state of mind of mutual love, beneficial mind, and a mind without harm. They will be content with their own possessions. Manjushri, furthermore, the four assemblies of monks, nuns, and laywomen, and other sons or daughters of good family who have faith, if they abide closely in the eight-limbed uposatha vow, guarding the precepts for one year or three months, and if anyone makes the aspiration with the thought: "By this root of my virtue, may I be born in the Western Pure Land, where the Tathagata Amitayus resides." From among those people, if anyone hears the name of the Bhagavan Tathagata Medicine Guru, King of Lapis Lazuli Light, then at the time of death, eight bodhisattvas will miraculously come to the path.
