Furthermore, may sentient beings not fall into hell or the lower realms. May they experience the bliss of the gods in the heavenly realms and the bliss of humans. Thus I pray. The fourth great aspiration is: When I attain the unsurpassable, perfectly complete enlightenment in the future, may any sentient beings who are impoverished, lacking food, drink, clothing, wealth, grain, bedding, incense, garlands, ornaments, and utensils, through my power, with my name held in their minds, and by reciting my name in their minds, may they, until the ultimate end of enlightenment, have their resources, clothing, wealth, grain, bedding, incense, garlands, ornaments, and utensils increase. Thus I pray. The fifth great aspiration is: When I attain the unsurpassable, perfectly complete enlightenment in the future, may any sentient beings who are bound, beaten, imprisoned, and whose bodies are tormented by various kinds of weapons, through my power, with my name held in their minds, and by reciting my name in their minds, may they, until the ultimate end of enlightenment, be completely liberated from all bondage and beatings. May all physical suffering cease. Thus I pray. The sixth great aspiration is: When I attain the unsurpassable, perfectly complete enlightenment in the future, may any sentient beings who are without protectors, whose bodies are burning with the fire of suffering, who have fallen among lions, tigers, bears, wild bears, and venomous snakes, whose lives are in danger, who are terrified and without protectors, and who utter various cries of lamentation, through my power, with my name held in their minds, and by reciting my name seven times in their minds, may all the fires of suffering on their bodies be extinguished until the ultimate end of enlightenment. May the lions, tigers, bears, wild bears, and venomous snakes also abide in loving-kindness. May they abide in a state of fearlessness and peace. Thus I pray. The seventh great aspiration is: When I attain the unsurpassable, perfectly complete enlightenment in the future,

At the time when perfect enlightenment is manifested and Buddhahood is attained, all those sentient beings who are fighting with each other, contending, arguing, and quarreling, those who are agitated, terrified, and frightened, by the power of my name, may my name be kept in mind, and may my name be recited seven times in their minds, so that all fighting, contending, arguing, and quarreling may be completely pacified until the ultimate end of enlightenment. May they abide in mutual love. This is what he vowed. His eighth great vow is: When I, in the future, manifest unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment and attain Buddhahood, all those sentient beings who enter the water, embark on a boat and go without an island, desiring life, entering rivers and oceans, uttering various cries, by the power of my name, may my name be kept in mind, and may my name be recited seven times in their minds, so that those beings, until the ultimate end of enlightenment, may be given a chance to breathe from that great river, may they cross without fear. This is what he vowed. Manjushri, the Bhagavan Tathagata Name Well-Proclaimed Glorious King made these eight great vows. Manjushri, therefore, from the time the Bhagavan Tathagata Name Well-Proclaimed Glorious King first generated the thought of enlightenment, the abode of his aspiration and the power of samadhi, the act of completely maturing sentient beings, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, the offerings and services to the Tathagata, the various miraculous manifestations, the purification of the Buddha-field, and the perfect qualities possessed by the Bodhisattva for a long time, except for the Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha and the Bodhisattvas abiding on the ten bhumis, all the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas cannot express it completely even in a hundred years. Manjushri, therefore, sons or daughters of good family who have faith, kings, ministers, or householders who seek virtue, in order to be free from anger and all afflictions, should hold and recite the name of the Tathagata with great reverence.

If one makes offerings to that Tathagata, then all his sins, all karmic obscurations, and all diseases will be completely pacified. All wishes will be fulfilled. One will become irreversible from the enlightenment of the Buddha. Manjushri, to the east from this Buddha-field, after passing Buddha-fields as numerous as the sands of seven Ganges rivers, there is a world called "Endowed with Jewels." There resides a Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened Buddha named "Jewel, Moon, Lotus Adorned, Skilled, Glorious Sound King." He lives, abides, teaches the Dharma, and only teaches the Mahayana to the Bodhisattvas. Manjushri, that Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened Buddha, in the past when practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, made eight great vows. What are the eight? His first great vow is: When I attain unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment in the future, those sentient beings who are fond of the affairs of field rentals and trade, and who are completely deprived of virtuous dharmas due to various distractions, and who are completely deprived of mindfulness of the Bodhi-mind, may they not be completely liberated from the sufferings of samsara. May they individually experience the sufferings of samsara, as well as aging, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and turmoil. May they, through my power, remember my name, and through verbally reciting my name, until they attain unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment, immediately obtain food, drink, enjoyment, use, wealth, grain, property, and gold. May they increase through virtuous dharmas. May they not be separated from mindfulness of the Bodhi-mind. May they be completely liberated from the three lower realms and all the sufferings of hell beings. He made this vow. World-Honored One, his second great vow
