It will become like that. If, having become a human, one is stingy with the Sutras and Shastras, and even knowing them, hides them and does not show them to others, that one, having died, will be born as a tree worm. If, having become a human, one delights in carrying bows and arrows and shooting, that one, having died, will fall into being a barbarian. If one delights in hunting and killing living beings, that one, having died, will fall into being a wolf. If one delights in wearing head ornaments and flowers, that one, having died, will become a worm in urine and feces. If one delights in wearing long robes, that one, having died, will become a long-tailed worm. If one delights in lying down and eating, that one, having died, will be born as a pig. If one delights in wearing colored clothes, that one, having died, will become a finch. If one delights in repeating the words of others and joking, that one, having died, will become a parrot. If one delights in gossiping, that one, having died, will be born as a large snake. If one harms enemies without cause, that one, having died, will be born as a worm with a vengeful mind. If one delights in causing discord among others, that one, having died, will be born as a dung beetle. If one delights in speaking curses, that one, having died, will be born as a fox. If one delights in making others afraid and frightened, that one, having died, will be born as a deer. One who in a previous life wore wooden shoes and entered the toilet will be born as a horse in this life. One who in a previous life delighted in lying will be born as a bedbug. One who in a previous life completely used the pestle and thread of the Sangha will be born in this life as a beetle with a hard shell on its head. If in a previous life one obstructed the food of others, in this life one will become a tree worm. One who stole and used the water of the Sangha will be born in this life as fish and crocodiles.

It will become so. Whoever discards impure things on the land of the Sangha will be born as worms in excrement. Whoever steals the fruits of the Sangha will become a worm that eats mud. Whoever steals the property of the Sangha will become an ox and donkey that grinds its own mill. Whoever forcibly demands and pre-uses the property of the Sangha will become a white pigeon. Whoever mocks and curses the Sangha will be born as worms on the neck of an ox. Whoever eats the vegetables in the Sangha's vegetable garden will become a worm in the vegetables. Whoever sits on the Sangha's mattress will be born as a long-tailed worm in the soil. Whoever uses the various utensils of the Sangha will be born as a butterfly. Whoever enters the temple with bones will be born as a long-beaked bird. Whoever enters the temple with red and white paint on their lips will be born as a red-beaked bird. Whoever wears colored clothes and enters the temple will be born as a yellow bird. Whoever commits adultery in the temple as husband and wife will be born as a blue-headed bird. Whoever tramples on the Tathagata's stupa will become the body of a sow. Whoever wears shoes and enters the Tathagata's pure room will be born as a frog. Whoever makes a loud noise while listening to the Dharma will be born as a hundred-tongued bird. Whoever slanders a pure Bhikkhuni will fall into the iron cave of the hell of sentient beings after death, and countless sword wheels will fall at the same time, cutting the body. Then, the Venerable Ananda asked the Blessed One: As the Blessed One said, if using the Sangha's property has such a serious sin, how do the four donors enter the temple to make offerings and prostrations? The Blessed One taught: There are two kinds of minds when entering the Sangha's temple, namely good.
