The wisdom of the earth is finite, so it cannot be called the nature of Dharma. Furthermore, it possesses faculty and object. The so-called faculty is the faculty of wisdom. The so-called object is wisdom. The object of faculty refers to the Dharma that is cognized by wisdom. The Buddha is complete in both faculty and object, and there is nothing that is not ultimately reached by the Dharma that is cognized by wisdom. The two vehicles do not have both faculty and object complete. Furthermore, the Buddha is the one who has attained the true wisdom that knows the nature of all Dharmas exactly as they are. The two vehicles cannot fathom the depths of the Dharma, so they cannot be called true wisdom. Therefore, from many points of view, the two vehicles cannot be called Buddha. The so-called "Bhagavan" cannot be established from words and sounds, but is nominally called "Bhagavan" from the point of view of meaning, that is, because he knows all the antidotal Dharmas. Furthermore, because the sounds of worldly language are inconsistent, worldly people themselves cannot understand, but the Buddha is omniscient, so he is called "Bhagavan." Furthermore, in the scripture called "Bhikkhu Ribs," it says that some of the two vehicles and ordinary beings believe in solitude and peace, some believe in meditation and samadhi, and some are hidden by other causes and do not reveal themselves, but the Dharma attained by the Buddha has the power of love and compassion, so he is happy to show and speak to others. Alternatively, because he has destroyed the three poisons, he is called "Bhagavan." Question: If the two vehicles also destroy the three poisons, why are they not called "Bhagavan"? Answer: It is not so, because the two vehicles are subject to regression, but the Buddha is not subject to regression. There are also three types of regression: regression of result, regression of non-result, and regression of the karma of action. The so-called regression of result refers to the fact that the three fruits of the Hearers are subject to regression, but the final fruit is not subject to regression. There are two situations for the intermediate vehicle: if the solitary Buddha who practices yoga for hundreds of kalpas is

The fruit is irreversible. If one initially becomes a Pratyekabuddha from the three fruits of the Lesser Vehicle, then that fruit will be reversible. The fruit of Buddhahood is irreversible. Reversion that is not a fruit is when an individual who is inclined towards the three vehicles reverts without attaining the fruit, and when a monastic yogi becomes lazy, lacks diligence, and declines in yogic practice and does not strive. These three are called reversion that is not a fruit. What is called reversion of the action of conduct is that one cannot manifestly practice the Dharma that should be attained. For example, like the ten powers of the Buddha and the ten wisdoms of the Lesser Vehicle, practicing one is sufficient and others are not needed. Or, if one knows how to recite a hundred thousand verses of the Sutras, if one does not recite them, then for all of that, it is called reversion of the action of conduct. Even in the Lesser Vehicle, there is irreversible fruit. In the Intermediate Vehicle, there is also reversion that is not a fruit. But for the Buddha, there is no reversion that is not a fruit. That is because there is no lack of diligence towards all Dharmas. For the two vehicles, there is reversion of the action of conduct. But for the Buddha, it is not definite. Practicing one of the ten powers is sufficient, and there is no need to practice the other nine, so it is called reversion. Furthermore, for what should be practiced, there is no reversion because it is not needed. For example, if one knows how to recite twenty thousand verses of the Sutras, a capable person can complete the recitation in one or two days. But the Buddha completes it in an instant, and the ten powers are the same. If it is necessary to practice, since one can perform immeasurable actions in an instant, there is no reversion because it is not needed for what should be practiced. Furthermore, for the Buddha, there is no reversion because it is not needed for what should be practiced. For example, when wearing upper and lower garments, it is not like ordinary people who wear them without rules. That is because for the sake of benefiting many sentient beings, whatever actions are done, if there is benefit, then that action is done, and if there is no benefit, then that action is not done. Therefore, for what should be practiced, because it is not needed.
