Those sentient beings who have obtained discipline from anywhere, thus it is not the same for the Buddhas to obtain discipline at different times. For example, when the Buddha Kāśyapa tamed countless sentient beings and completely liberated all the remaining ones from suffering, the Buddha Kāśyapa obtained discipline from all those sentient beings. However, Shakyamuni Buddha did not obtain discipline from all those sentient beings. All Buddhas are the same in three aspects: the collection of actions is the same, the Dharmakaya is the same, and benefiting sentient beings is the same. All Buddhas are the same, having practiced the conduct of Bodhisattvas for three countless kalpas, perfected the five-limbed Dharmakaya, the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddhas, all Buddhas liberate countless sentient beings from suffering. Someone asked: It is said in the sutras that if one Buddha descends into the world, he will benefit ninety billion hundred thousand sentient beings, causing them to be liberated from suffering. Why is it said that he benefits countless sentient beings? The Buddha replied: It is said in the sutras that if one Buddha descends into the world, he will benefit ninety billion hundred thousand sentient beings, which refers to those who have obtained liberation from that Buddha. Among those sentient beings who have obtained liberation, some are benefited by the Buddha himself, some are benefited by the disciples, and some are liberated through the Dharma that has been left behind. Therefore, the ninety billion hundred thousand sentient beings mentioned refer to those who are benefited by the Buddha himself. And "liberating countless sentient beings from suffering" refers to the general benefit. All Buddhas of the three times are the same, but the way the Buddhas of the three times obtain discipline is not the same. Someone asked: Is the so-called non-Pratimoksha discipline obtained from sentient beings or non-sentient beings? Can all sentient beings, whether controlled or not, obtain discipline? The Buddha replied: Non-Pratimoksha discipline can be obtained from sentient beings, but non-Pratimoksha discipline cannot be obtained from non-sentient beings. Otherwise, obtaining discipline from sentient beings who can be killed

, one obtains the law of (killing). One does not obtain the law from sentient beings that should not be killed. Furthermore, one obtains the law of non-restraint from both sentient beings that can be killed and those that cannot be killed, which is called non-restraint. For example, a butcher who slaughters sheep always has the intention and tools for killing, and only thinks of slaughtering sheep, so its measure is immeasurable. If one is born as a god or a human, although one does not immediately engage in killing, because one revolves from one life to another, there is a cause to be born as a sheep again. Therefore, one will obtain the law of non-restraint from all sentient beings, and the twelve laws of non-restraint are also the same. The so-called twelve laws of non-restraint are: butcher, executioner, pig farmer, chicken farmer, fisherman, hunter, bird catcher, snake catcher, one who recites mantras for nagas, prison guard, thief, and thief catcher, these twelve. Raising silkworms is also included in the law of non-restraint. There are three times when the law of non-restraint is lost: at the time of death, at the time when attachment and clinging cease, and at the time of violating the law of restraint. For example, when taking refuge in the Three Jewels, the law of non-restraint is lost when the first word is spoken. After that, when the second and third words are spoken, one will obtain the law of virtue. Someone asked: When a person does non-restrained actions, at what time does the virtuous law disappear and the non-virtuous law is obtained? It was answered: When the first word "I am a butcher" is spoken, the virtuous law disappears, and when "I am a butcher" is spoken two or three times, the non-virtuous law is obtained. Furthermore, at the very moment when the virtuous law is abandoned, the non-virtuous law is obtained. If a person who observes the virtuous law does not vow "I am a butcher," but only clings to profit and gain, and raises and slaughters piglets, then this is called losing the virtuous law, which is abandoning the virtuous law and obtaining the non-virtuous law. If one definitely vows "I am a butcher," it is still non-virtuous.

One will obtain the law of transgression. Obtaining the transgression of non-virtue is obtained merely through my own vow. There is no need to obtain it from another. If one vows to obtain the transgression of non-virtue, from one or two days to ten days, or from one year to two years, then it will be obtained according to the length of the vow. Therefore, the non-virtuous dharma of sin is to be immersed in the cycle of birth and death, and there is no meaning in increasing more and more. In this way, the transgression of non-virtue is obtained through the thing itself, which is different from the precepts of virtue. From the eighth chapter of the Great Skillful Buddha's Gratitude Sutra, called "The Uninterrupted Chapter." Eighth Chapter. The Uninterrupted Chapter.
